Hey I have rendered my project to the highest bitrate (20000000bps I think)as a mp4 but the original footage was about 1.3 gig for 3:50min and now after rendering it’s only 595mb which would suggest image loss. I know this sounds paranoid but the director is going to submit this to film festivals and to be viewed on the big screen.
    1920 x 1080 25p Footage taken with canon 7d h.264
The render I have done looks pretty good but I don’t want any loss ideally.
    Thanks again.

    Hi David
that looks like a real time saver, I have just about finished this project so I might wait until the next dslr job. Knowing my luck it will be the very next one.
    Cheers

I must admit when I was doing my home work on Sony vegas a few years back I looked it up on you tube and I watched all those VASST videos. They are very well thought out and executed tutorials.

Yeah I got the 64bit option purely so I could run more memory.

    Thanks John
At least I now know what my problem is, I have seen a few nice upgrades on vegas 10 but not quite enough to justify the upgrade.

I guess this would explain why my preview is so jittery, my entire video has been shot with a canon7D which has the same file format as a 5d.

Thanks guys, I was looking at all those bit rates and thinking I didn’t know how much changing the bit rate would change the quality, plus the only render option that had an = next to it was the “.mov uncompressed” option and I found out the hard way last time that was not really a good option.

Hmmm, I zoom right out on the timeline and set preview to draft, quarter and still she stutters a bit which is very off putting with this music video that I am doing where I have to sync to the music. It’s worse with clips that have effects in them which is no surprise. That is very intersting about the preview ram though.
Thanks for your replies by the way.
