I see. So the pulldown is only applied to the video out but not to renders.

Just sucks since the ability to play DNxHD comes with a significant price tag and an additional processing lag too.roman hankewycz

That’s a great trick! I’ve been unhappy with the batch unlink function because it does all or nothing. Now there’s a workaround.

I have the AVID plugin on my system and I just checked my output options and the only SD MXF options I have availible are:
MXF UYVY422 PAL 8bit
MXF UYVY422 NTSC 8bit
Not what you’re looking for. Sounds like you’d have to bring the output into AVID and convert it there.
It’s interesting to note that there are no DV QT output settings either, but then again you usually want hi-quality outputs out of the grading system so maybe that’s why they aren’t included.roman hankewycz

Hey guys,
Thanks for the feedback. Let me answer some of the questions:-I’m not using EDLs to go to Resolve I’m using AAFs but maybe I should give EDLs a try. I was under the impression that AAFs would give me better results because they carry more metadata.
-I’m not using the pre-conform approach because I know there will be thing’s I’ll need to tweak after grading so I want handles out of AVID which makes me worry about the Resolve-to-AVID issues Donal mentioned.
Also I’ve noticed that my conforming issues cluster around certain clips within certain scenes within the reels. Unfortunately I don’t have the time to narrow down the culprits. This film has been edited in a pretty unorganized manner and obviously I’m inheriting problems from an imperfect, offline workflow.
I guess I just have to push through this for now and hope the workflow gets ironed out before my next AVID-to-Resolve project.
Thanks a lot,roman hankewycz

Make sure that “Colorspace conversion uses” is set to “unscaled full range data.” This setting is found in the “Video Monitoring” section of the “Project” in “Config.” That may be the problem.

Todd,
Thanks for the response. I read your suggestions on the linked thread. I changed my “ram for other applications” to 5GB, leaving 11GB for Premiere. I ran an update on Premiere but it only went to 5.0.4. Premiere 5.5 is a paid upgrade and I’d rather not spend more money until I try other solutions.I have all scratch discs and cashes going to an internal raid with plenty of storage. The media I’m working with is all Prores LT. I find it hard to believe that I’m having these performance issues. I literally have the same project set up in Premiere 5 and FCP7 and the performance between the two programs is incomparable!
Is there anything else that I may be overlooking? Just curious, is this issue expected? Can Premiere handle large projects like features?

Well that settles it! Ha.
Robbie, I’m curious what you find in your tests today.Rohit, obviously it would be helpful if FCP roundtrip worked with the Render Queue. I also second Robbie’s request for a function to keep track of which clips have been modified since the last render. It’s far too easy to lose track of which clips have been tweaked and I often re-render everything just to be sure I don’t miss anything.
While we’re on the subject, having plain old timeline markers would also be a useful feature.
