Performance question
Hello all,
My facility is in the middle of our first edit using Premiere. The project we’re working on is a music video incorporating footage from 5D, 7D, Filmcam, and GoPro, which we understood could be used in Premiere without transcoding.
Problem is that we’re experiencing some major performance issues:
-when you click out of Premiere (to check email for instance) and then click back into Premiere, there’s a 20 second spinning wheel
-general lag when loading/viewing clips
-playback issues when playing the timelineI was convinced that the issue was with the footage given that H.264 and mpeg4 are difficult formats to work with. However we did a test where we transcoded all of the footage to ProRes(LT), imported that footage into a new project, and we still experienced the same performance issues. Any insight into why we’re experiencing these issues or suggestions on how to get better performance? Our facility is a long time FCP house and admittedly we don’t know all of the in’s and out’s of Premiere so any help would be appreciated.
