  • Expressions can’t physically move Markers nor Keyframes – you’ll need a script to do such physical adjustments in AE. Expressions can however, offset Keyframed Values in time or when Markers are processed by an Expression. However, the visual indicators of the Markers and Keyframes will be misleading.

So, a script will be the best option. ScreenGrabs of your Timeline that shows the Markers/Keyframes that you want to offset will be good. And, just to be clear, do you want to adjust ALL Markers or just a set of Markers within the Work Area and work this way as you progress down the Timeline? How do you envision the solution should work for you, based on your best understanding of the issue.

You’ll want to provide details on the wiggle or could it be random that you’re looking for? A Reference animation, even one of another object that exhibits the identical motion will help.

OR a defined description of the wiggle will also be helpful.

For the skeleton’s movement, which part of the skeleton do you want to link to? Is this part always moving. Do you want the wiggle to only animate when the skeleton is moving but come to a stop and how do you want the stop to happen – gradual, bouncy or immediate stop.

    Lots of possibilities.

If anyone is keen to take a look at samples using Adaptive & Responsive Motion Graphics, here’s my Youtube Playlist.

Adaptive pertains to how a single MoGRT is able to work in different Frame Sizes and Aspect Ratios. Responsive features cover lots of areas and use-cases but is generally seen as the ability for elements/properties to respond to changes to Text and Visuals by the user.

Tom’s right, Ae Adjustment Layers are ignored when they are part of an AeMoGRT.

No worries I did take note of the typo.

BTW, AE comes pre-installed with two Animation Presets that handle part of the solution –

2D Text Box and Lock Anchor Point

I am also in the midst of designing courses that cover this sort of issues.

As it is in AE, there are a couple of ways to do this. I’d look at using the Linear Interpolation Expression Method. So, look into that to see if you’re able to to achieve what you want.

I’m actually having a hard time looking at your code cos everything’s so tiny.

Stuff like this looks easy but they involve combining different mid to difficult aspects on Expressions and can get complicated once you add more Text Layers into the mix. I’d put this at Intermediate Level AE and not ideal for a newbie unless you have the patience to dig deep and far.

If you can post your code in your post, it will be more useful to other to see it as well as to edit it, to provide you with perhaps clearer guidance.

There are lots of Market Places templates and Lower Thirds are the most popular ones. You will want to look for something compatible with your editing/compositing system.

Responsive aka Auto-resizing Templates are the best to look for – the graphic elements will autoresize to fit into most text lengths and lines of text without you having to do any graphics or keyframe/timing adjustments.

And of course, for the higher-end market, you can hire someone or a design agency to create an entire set of customized lower thirds and other MoGraph assets.
