You have rendered TWICE. Which of the two renders is pixelated?

What are the render, output and layer quality settings related to the problematic render.

Does the first movie rendered look pristine – in QT and AE’s Footage Panel?

If the issue is with the second render – have you applied any effect(s) onto the initially rendered movie? Do you have Camera DOF applied in the comp with this movie?

What Steve is alluding to is to extract a matte using one of the color channels in the original footage.

Other worthwhile options are AE’s Rotobrush and perhaps even Autotrace.

Rotoscoping well requires knowledge (how to rotoscope using keyframe strategies) , skills (knowledge of the software and how to discern different types of movement to help you with choosing the right/best keyframing strategy) and experience (the more you do, the better you become – see previous articulations).

I have no idea what your video is showing – before or after rotoscoping.

If your original footage’s foreground and background are sufficiently distinctive, you can try AE’s Rotobrush Tool.

A good option for this is to use mocha – to track the vase and then to link/parent a shape in mocha to the vase. There’s a lot to know and do.

You also have the option of outsourcing the rotoscoping and only take on such jobs after you have delved, sufficiently with the practical aspects.

Sounds like you need to parent the texture to the layer. Since there is more than one layer with the alpha channel, you can’t use the method I proposed. I suggest that you look into using a regular Track Matte or the Set Matte effect, together with a parenting structure.

It’s likely that the tracking engine doesn’t have sufficient data (pixels/planar surface) to conduct the track successfully if the ear bud is a small piece.

You can try to add additional tracking splines, one for the side of the face and another for the ear as long as these are co-planar with the ear bud.

You will also want to ensure that you increase the Minimum % of Pixels Used to a sufficiently high value – 90% and above is what you want.

When using the Adjust Track, it is ideal that you have a keyframing strategy. Without going at length, here’s a procedure I suggest you undertake –

1) make a note of the timespan where the tracking anomaly occurs
2) in the Adjust Track Module, set a keyframe ONE FRAME BEFORE and another keyframe ONE FRAME AFTER the timespan that you noted in (1)
3) before adding more keyframes in the Adjust Track Module, look for the frame in time where the discrepancy of the tracking anomaly is the greatest. make your first adjustment on this frame.
4) move the time indicator between the first keyframe you created and the one you created in (3) – the frame with the largest discrepancy.
5) while performing (4), look for the frame with the largest discrepancy. apply the technique you used in (3) – ie adjust the tracking result on the frame with the largest discrepancy.
6) repeat the steps until you’ve completed the first segment. then repeat all the steps for the second part of the segment.

This may sound like a lot of work but you will very likely end up with a lot fewer keyframes than if you didn’t have a keyframing strategy to work within.

This is expected behavior. While Line Cap/Join have defaults that do not remember their last used attributes, newly created Stroke/Fill Width, Color etc are based on their most recent use.

BTW, you can select Shape Layer(s) and change Stroke/Fill Attributes by clicking on the appropriate hotlink at the top of the Comp Panel – to the right of the Toolbox.

I suggest that you delete your Prefs to see if it’ll sort out your issue – it’s much faster than re-installing. Also, don’t forget to Sign Out (Help Menu) prior to uninstalling.
