Try upgrading to version 6.5.1, and see if setting your audio to draft quality helps during the scubbing. Additionally, you may want to look at setting your audio preview preferences to be identical to that of your audio file.

Haven’t seen that one b4. Can you do a RAM preview with audio? If it’s just the audio scrub that’s giving problems, then I’d suggest trying another audio file and then a restart as a last resort – perhaps something’s screwy with memory.

If it’s affecting RAM previews then it may be the audio file itself that is the cause. Test with another audio file. If it’s the audio file, then use QT Pro to resave the audio into another format.

What type of audio files arr you using? I hope it’s not MP3.

If you have version 6.5, you can convert your text to Outlines and then use Smartmask to do the morphing. It’s not easy to get a nice morph – expect a lot of trial and error.

If you offset the Z position of your Anchor Point and rotate along the y-axis, you’ll get your text to move in a circular fashion. To get the roundish look, just apply Bulge and adjust to taste. Bulge will also look good when your text moves along the sides as it makes its rotation.

The best way to trim is to place the Time Indicator at a particular point in time and use the shortcut keys, ALT+[ and ALT+] for trimming in and out points respectively.

Using the panels can be confusing indeed.

1024×576 is ideal for square pixel aspect ratio work – ie. on your computer. Only at the last step in AE, prior to rendering would you drop your 1024×576 comps into the PAL Widescreen Preset.

AE will then automatically conform the 1024×576 comps to fit the widescreen preset.

IT’s a Card Wipe tutorial done up by Total Training. Not too sure if you can still get it online. Essentially, you’ll need to create a grid of people. You can create the grid in Photoshop or in AE (using Particle Playground’s GRID option) with a single person (still or movie will do just fine) as a Layer Map.

Then apply card dance and ensure that the number of cards setting is identical to that for the grid. Then animate either the x or y-zxis. You may want to add some jitter to add realism.

I suggest that you start with a small number of people – 4 – 8 and finetune the technique before embarking on a full-blown exercise.

Discreet’s Cleaner is a good application but whether the software is supported by Discreet is qustionable. You may want to check the COW’s Compression forum for current info regarding the software.

Should you want to make purchase for your needs and you’re on a PC, then look into Canopus’s ProCoder software which does a great job for Web Encoding of videos. It also does excellent MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 encoding (for DVD authoring) – which is a great addition to your business.
