Mess about with Glow’s threshold to hone in on bright areas and then adjust intensity, radius and Composite Original to taste.

Of you could set Gravity to a low value, perhaps even a small negative value BUT set Strength to a negative value. This will essentially implode rathe than explode the layer.

Both the Persistent and Ephemeral property mappers have two oroperties that allow you to feather time. These are Older/Younger and Age Feather.
By feathering time, properties affected by the said mappers will animate in a non-uniformed manner towards their min/max settings. Further, the particles will fade towards their min/max settings.
With respect to Lifespan, they affect which particles will die off.
For Lifespan, set it to equal to 1 seconds for min and 2 seconds for max. Lifespan only exists in the Persistent Property Mapper. Then set Older/Younger to -2 and Age Feather to 1.
A positive Older/Younger affects older particles whiles a negative value affects younger particles. These settings should work well as a starting point for your specific needs.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. But I have a feeling it’s not going to work in my case cos’ most of the layers have at least 3 keyframes for Position, Scale and Orientation.What I need to do is to select all keyframes for all selected layers (can?) at a point in time. Ideally, where my Timeline Indicator is. Once they’re selected I easily move them.
I could then go on to the next pertinent point in my timeline and initiate the script again.
Selecting all keyframes wouldn’t help cos’ their relative time differential will still be the same. I need to move them in such a way that I can change this – essentially tweaking the animation.
Did you try to see if this works on CS3? I always got this to work. I don’t know if its the number of layers that I have that’s causing this hiccup. And it’s really silly the way CTRL+ALT+A works, it LITERALLY selects all VISIBLE keyframes – ones that you ACTUALLY see with your eyeballs. It disregards all layers that are only accessible via the scroll bar. But once you scroll, you lose the ones you had earlier. It’s like a bad joke.
Pretty lame. Always had much respect for the AE Team’s UI implementation. This one is just plain out of whack!

Streamclip is free and I’ve heard only good things about it. Procoder will cost you and should do the trick.
But I would check your prefs to see what the FPS setting is for sequentially files and the timebase under project settings. I’ve your type of artefacts with improper settings.
BTW, are you outputting for an Alcorn Macbride system? I managed to output MPEG-2 from AE for their system and it worked without a hitch.

Companies that develop CODECs should be paid a fee for their products. Without these type of companies, we wouldn’t have had Sorenson CODECs for the Web ages ago. We wouldn’t have had Indeo CODECs ages ago for CD-ROM delivery.
These companies have tended to provide a solution at the right time to expand the scope and audience for content creators.
What’s disturbing is the existence of platform owners controlling the distribution of CODECs by focussing only on their CODECs.
