Yeah once I bought the Eclipse I understood what you could do with Color, the panel just makes the universe a better place. Thanks for for confirmation that it is actually works well with Resolve, I know that JL Cooper had said the panel was compatible but that doesn’t always mean that the thing will work sensibly.

How come if it’s version 1 it has an X after it’s name, would have thought that would imply that it has some thing like … ooh, 10 years of pedigree behind it and an existing fully functioning, tried and tested feature set for instance!

It would have made a good excuse to buy into Resolve and the best of both worlds would be that Apple have decided to concentrate all their efforts on FCPX. I really think they would be mad not to continue with XML/EDL export. Those are the little things that would definitely remove the Pro bit.

[Aindreas Gallagher] “we are not here to be simply wowed, and even if the demo wasn’t for us, we surely deserve a quiet follow up to simply know what is going on”
I have been complaining that point for years, if Avid, Adobe, The Foundry or even I as a business treated the clients with such childish secrecy we would not have many clients. But Apple assumes they have more power than I think is safe for them to assume. It was ok when there was no alternative for £ or function but the gap is pretty well closed, in short, they had better have made FCPX an awesome product or they will loose their clients, I think from reading the blogs a lot have made plans to not be so dependant on an erratic supplier.

It will definately make lunch for your clients, I saw it in over colourful glossy boxes, which will hurt my eyes to look at because they are all just too beautiful.
I’m really looking forwards to wandering around it, I don’t even care if there’s no Color or Motion or compressor or even DVD studio. I enjoyed using them all in the past but there are very good alternatives to them all now. At the end of the day it’s not really the end of the universe of they’ve gone.

[Aindreas Gallagher] “that’s all *completely* dandy – I.. just, oh god i just want the manual, or some half detailed walkthroughs before june.”
Trouble is they have played this game with us for years now, I reckon they actually think it is funny. Think they could do with an overhaul of their customer relations system.
It is so nearly here but it still feels a million year away, perhaps they could release the manual a page a day in a newspaper, I’m sure they would find that funny too.

They enjoy it.

this is a joke right? you know the app store comes with osx like itunes or mail?”
I’m sorry, yes it is a joke, well I hope is anyway. Perhaps a bit too dry for everyones frazzled nerves. I apologise, next time I will include the smiley face thing if I can find it.

Shrink Wrap Version you say? Cripes, I heard they were only going to supply FCPX via the App Store now. Ah wait, that means I’ll have to download it onto my iPhone, Sync it to my laptop, then transfer it to the Main Machine, stop me if I am getting things wrong here please. This is going to take a long, long time. Think I’ll scrap it all and go with Vegas, I read a quote of a blog somewhere that said it could do everything that FCP XXI wouldn’t even hope to do and all on a platform that met every dead line it made, ate bugs for breakfast (might only be a rumour about senior execs.) and never, ever, ever released a piece of software before they new it would work perfectly.
Eh, what was the number of your shrink?

I didn’t see any Plugins on the demo, I can only assume they are not supported anymore.
Seriously I can’t see them spending this amount of time and resources only to remove one of the most vital sections. They must have consulted with one or two actual editors at some point and can you see any of them saying “Yeah Steve, you must be a genius, we’ve never used it anyway”. In FCP7 you can shut the clip viewer down if you don’t need it for say … more screen real estate for demonstration of timeline and final screen only!
We can still blame this on Apple though, for not releasing enough information for us, so we have to get a little neurotic about what we have got. Though now I look a little closer, was that a spelling mistake I can see on the GUI, if I drag it into FCP and use a little Sharpening plugin I reckon I can reduce the youtube film grain a little!
:¬) I smile just incase someone takes me too seriously.
