Has anyone heard any info on a round trip from FCPX to Resolve and back? I presume that BMD must have been given some warning of the new FCPX features. My theory is that Color is gone so I am planning an FCPX and Resolve solution. As they have just made Resolve 8 work well with FCP7 I wouldn’t have thought they would invest that amount of time and money doing that only to have the whole system broken completely by the new version of FCPX.

Any views from people who might not be noticed making surreptitious comments?

We don’t know anything yet, but we can hope that if FCPX doesn’t export EDL/XML the industry keeps using FCP7, Avid MC and Adobe Premiere.

It would have made a good excuse to buy into Resolve and the best of both worlds would be that Apple have decided to concentrate all their efforts on FCPX. I really think they would be mad not to continue with XML/EDL export. Those are the little things that would definitely remove the Pro bit.

Nobody (who’s allowed to talk) really knows anything, but it’s worth pointing out that even iMovie supports XML exporting, so the idea that FCP X might not is not especially plausible.

There may be changes to the structure of the XML files, of course. Those have happened with past releases. Blackmagic seems to be in fine form these days, and I’m sure they’ll catch up quickly if it proves necessary.
