Thanks for that suggestion, Dave. I did as you suggested, including deleting the Registry entries, but still end up with the same darned error.

I installed it onto my wife’s laptop, and it works fine there (though very slowly!), so I am wondering if something has gone screwy in my registry, although VP 12 seems to be the only program misbehaving. I will try a repair install of Win 7 next and see if that helps.

Thanks for your replies, Guys. I was afraid that would be the case.

However, having experimented a bit more, I have discovered that by offsetting the centre of rotation in the Pan/Crop window, and then rotating about the new centre, a reasonable approximation to the flight of the ball results. It’s a bit fiddly getting the initial and end positions correct, but far easier than plotting dozens of keyframes.

Hope this might help others with a similar problem in the future.

March 23, 2013 at 11:24 pm in reply to: Vegas Pro 10, How can I make myself translucent?

You can do it without a green screen, but you will need to mount your camera solidly, as on a tripod, or very firmly on a table. Take one shot of the background, then, without moving the camera, take another shot with yourself in the picture.

In Vegas, put the clip with you in it onto Track 1, then put the clip of the background onto Track 2. Right click the Track Header to Track 1 and select Insert/Remove Envelope. Select Composite Level, and a blue line will appear at the top of Track 1. Moving this up and down will vary the “transparency” of the event, and can also be keyframed so you can fade in and out if you wish. Provided the camera was not moved or the settings altered between takes, the background should remain in perfect alignment, and the fading in and out should not be noticeable.

December 2, 2012 at 3:21 am in reply to: Best use for a second SSD

    Thanks for your input, guys.

I have been using one HDD for project files, and the other for output, but both are SATA 2. The SSD drives are both SATA 3, and are connected to the only two SATA 3 connections on my MB. So it seems that the way to go is to use the new SSD for project files, as I was intending.

    Good to have confirmation, though.

November 27, 2012 at 2:12 pm in reply to: Contour shuttle: pro v2 vs express

I would advise you to go with the Shuttle Pro. The Express only has five buttons, compared to 15 on the Pro. You might not need to use all the buttons at first, but at least you will be able to add functions as you need them without running out of buttons.

It depends on your own preferences, and what actions you use the most. For instance, I use Group/ungroup, ripple on and off, copy and paste quite a lot, so have them allocated to various buttons, along with do/undo, split and in/out. That’s the joy of Shuttle Pro – you can change the settings easily to suit the way you work.

Thanks Mark. That worked a treat.
Such a simple solution, I never thought of it!

I believe the capability was added in Vegas 8.0c.
Certainly, I have been successfully editing Panasonic m2ts files since I upgraded.

Thanks, Mike. Just in the nick of time. That has sorted the problem – don’t know how it got deselected though!

    Thanks, Danny.

I have the same problem with the [ ] keys, too. Having done more experimenting, I think I might have a problem with Vegas as some other keys seem to be behaving oddly. I will reinstall, and see if that cures the problems.
