James, I don’t regularly use FCPX so I can’t advise you, but this forum is for FCP7 and earlier. You might do better if you post in the FCPX forum on the Cow. However I would suggest you get in touch with Ronny Courtens in Belgium. He’s the European guru on all things FCPX. If you head over to Ken Stone”s FCP forum you will find Ronny there and be able to PM him.

In addition to what has already been said. Long GOP formats don’t have the same frame structure that we are used to, F-F-F-F, it’s composed of I – B and P frames. GOP, or Group Of Pictures interact with each other and in a sense have a life of their own. Difficult to work with as it was never designed as an editing format. Converting to ProRes makes it all I frames, F-F-F-F, like a film strip. Very high quality, easy to work with and easy on the brain.

Anything FCP-ish in Library/Startup items. Did you trash FCP prefs manually. Is it possible that you dropped something in the wrong place when moving items to the trash?

Well, I never heard of this one. Try going to system preferences/accounts/log in items. If FCP is there highlight it and click the minus button at the bottom of the window.

Dual GPU’s have not been supported by FCP since V5. Read the system requirements, stick to that good advice and things will be fine. Go “off piste” and you’ll be in all kinds of trouble.

Hi Jenn, as everyone has suggested, your file sizes fall outside all the file transfer company limits, even a paid account on MailBigFile is limited to 20 gigs.
Most commercial operations use Peer to Peer software to transfer huge files between the iP addresses of client and host computers and so bypass the cloud and commercial file transfer services. It’s quite a while since I was involved in such things but a quick check shows that BitTorrent can do what you want to do by allowing the client access to the shared folder which you would set up in BitTorrent on your computer iP address or vice-versa. Take a look at the link below. If you have a decent internet connection where you are with no data limit it should work – if you can figure out how to use BitTorrent. -

Export your sequence from FCP then take it into compressor. Choose the 90 minute DVD preset and send to batch. When complete take the compressed video and AC3 audio files into DVDSP.
….Just noticed that you chose the HD DVD setting. HD DVD is defunct, Blu Ray won that war so you are stuck with SD DVD unless you can produce BD media.

Randy, I’m pretty sure you need to trash your FCP preferences. The easy way is to download Preference manager and use that to do it easily. When you run PM choose only FCP, as by default all the studio apps are selected.
