For FCP7 I have Desktop video 9.0.0, which is about as far as I would go with that. Also what O.S. are you running because FCP doesn’t get along too well with operating systems newer than itself as Apple have not considered the well being of FCP7 in later OS releases since it was discontinued . Are you using any stills in your project because they can cause a crash with the report that it was caused by the Blackmagic plug in. Some users have problems with Tiffs, others with PNG, either way I wouldn’t use jpegs in FCP7, you need an uncompressed format.

Sorry, I thought you had the SL disk. Maybe you can find a Rosetta download somewhere or borrow a Snow leopard disk. Someone will help you out I’m sure.

Hi Samantha, the same problem occurs with Snow Leopard, however there is a workaround. On the SL installer disk is an installer for Rosetta, this enables FCP6 functionality. I have heard, though not tried it myself, that if you install Rosetta into Lion from the SL installation disk, only Rosetta, nothing else, then FCP6 will run under Lion. You can find the installer in the optional installers folder on the Snow Leopard DVD.

Dragging you old FCP to the trash doesn’t remove the associated files. Download FCS remover then run it to remove everything. Then go to system library, not the library in your home folder, go to Application support > Pro Apps. There you will find your FCP system ID, trash it. Next install your new version in the normal way.

Holding down the C key is for forcing boot from an optical disc. I have a MacPro with FCS 2 on one disk running SL. Disk 2 is partitioned into 2, with SL. FCS3 on the first partition, Lion and FCPX on the second partition, so three boot options.
To boot from a different disk or partition choose “startup disk” in system preferences or hold down the Alt key when you power on, that will give the option of which disk you would like to boot from.
I have no desire to run an OS which is newer that the software I need to run, it’s just asking for trouble. If it works don’t fix it.

What I find interesting about this is that YouTube won’t allow audio only, so those who wish to post audio have to at least put a still image in there for it to be accepted. Perhaps John has inadvertently found a workaround for those who wish to post audio only on YouTube.

Yes, it sounds like Joseph is correct, it is anamorphic. Take your image into Photoshop. Go to Image/image size. uncheck Constrain proportions. In the width checkbox change from Pixels to %, then change the width to +33%
