December 26, 2009 at 11:27 pm in reply to: JPG files crash VEGAS

Frusrated, I installed Windows 7 64 bit and after reinstalling everything the problem of out of memory and crashes seem to have been solved at least for now.

  • I took a group of M2ts files and put them on the time line without any editing and they render fine. Yet when I put my project on the timeline it crashes every time even when I stripped out everything inlcuding the audio track and just left a few clips.
    I’m using windows 7 32 bit with Vegas 8 build 260.

    Do you have any ideas?

Here’s the info I got after the crash:

    Stopped working

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
    Application Name: vegas80.exe
    Application Version: 8.0.0.260
    Application Timestamp: 48c7daa4

Then I loaded the veg file and elimated all but 3 clips and it still crashed (with this message)

I think you have to go to the “project manager” and click on that icon that looks like a lightning bolt to remove those files from the list and then save. That will remove all unused media from the project.

I don’t have a quad core and was hoping I didn’t have to go and buy another new computer again to keep up. I don’t know what proxies are. Can you explain? Thanks

Thanks for your post. I do realize that the 1/5 chip in my MC1 will not give me the quality picture as does my Z1U but I would like to know if the picture quality between the two setting options on the MC1 of HD FH and HD FQ will have any real noticable difference in quality.

And since the clips that come from my Sony MC1 are M2t files, what exactly is the difference between them and the files that come from my Z1U?

I purchased and am using Vegas9.

April 13, 2009 at 3:15 pm in reply to: sdcam master tapes

Sorry, I meant HDcam master tapes.
Here’s my situation. I have all my programs on Vegas and ready to have HD master tapes made for a PBS series they have approved. I’m new to much this and the company I’m working with now is having a real problem knowing what to do to get my Vegas projects onto HDcam masters as they mainly work with Final Cut and Avid. I’m looking for a company that can use my Vegas projects and take it from there to make these masters which PBS needs.
Sorry to be so green at this.

    Hello Joe,
I have been slow in responding to your post because some help I thought was heading my way concerning my making of master tapes. Getting everything ready for PBS is really a challenge. To my surprise, there is a company right here in Pinellas County just a few miles from me that can make master tapes, closed captioning, etc. I think I’ll be working with them.
They don’t use Vegas however so a work around is necessary. They use Final Cut. They say none of my EDL lists will work to transfer my program to theirs. They are having me bring my system down to their shop and we’re going to work with it.
By chance do you know of an EDL list or something that will bring Vegas into FinalCut?
Thanks for any help. Sorry once again for not responding before now.
    Roger
