When I did what you told me about Ctr-Shift to start Vegas, it prompted me that an update was available. I installed the Vegas update and now everything works again.A while back I had to reformat my HD and reinstall Vegas and I guess no update was installed. All seemed to work for a while but then the problem occured. Seems it would have happened the minute I reinstalled but it didn’t. Anyway, I think it’s resovled now thanks to your generous help.
Thank you very much.

If I create a new audio/video track and then drag a clip into it, it works fine. So it’s that one audio track already placed on the timeline that is causing the problem. And if I drag a clip from the defective audio timeline to a new timeline, the problem still exists.

To answer your questions:
1. The problem files are all of my video clips(m2t)
2. All clips preview fine with audio and video in Vegas Explorer.
3. When dragged into the timeline, the audio disappeares but the video shows up and works. The audio timeline is there however, just no sound with it (and of course I get that error message while loading the project)4. All clips from my project are effected that way.
5. A music wav file plays fine in the timeline.
6. My other projects totally work fine so it’s not a universal problem.
7. When I last closed the program (before the problem) all seemed to be fine.
8. When I go to a different directory from my project directory and place a clip from there into the problem video project, that clip loads but again with no audio.
9. The wavelength doesn’t show up on the audio timeline. It’s just blank.—————————————–
It wouldn’t be so bad but there are hundreds and hundreds of clips, mostly broken up from a few large m2t files of me doing a painting demonstration. Sarah and I are doing a series for PBS called “Painting & Travels with Roger & Sarah Bansemer”
A few of our programs are at https://bansemer.com/painting_demonstrations/painting_videos.htm
if your interested in looking.I always back up my programs on 2 seperate external 1TB HD’s and was just about to do it after finishing the program when this occured.
Thanks again for your help.

December 4, 2008 at 11:26 pm in reply to: Error occured while loading the project file – Please HelpJust another note of explination:
The entire project opens and I can view the video and the audio. I can see all the timelines, etc. All the music.wav files work fine. BUT all audio clips, although there on the timeline, reads “media offline”.
I can still get the audio when doing a preview in Vegas explorer but when I drag a clip into the timeline there is no audio.
Baffling!

December 4, 2008 at 11:14 pm in reply to: Error occured while loading the project file – Please HelpI tried the backup file and I get the same error message. This is a disaster as I’ve put tons of time in the program which I’m making for PBS.

That script sounds like what I need. Can you point me to the script? Thanks
Also thank you Douglas Spotted Eagle for the shortcut tip. I didn’t know that one.

I guess I’ve not been clear. I ususally have to cut 3 or 4 minutes away from my 26:46 shows. So I cut a clip or two and then I have to scroll to the end of my timeline a place my mouse on the end in order to see exactly the time the show ends. It requires that I do this over and over until I cut enough but it’s tedious.
Is there something that gives me the total time(as I cut)without me having to scroll down there every minute to find out?
