  • Problem with veg file.

Posted by Jerry Katz on December 19, 2009 at 1:40 am

I never had a problem with veg files until now. I started a new project first setting my propertie settings
then opening explorer to located the fold with my 51 video clips. I then high lighted all 51 clips and
dragged them on to the timeline. After deciding what clips I needed I eliminated clips #1 through #13. plus
    some others.

I saved the project and closed out of Sony Vegas. I then went to the folder with all 51 clips and removed clips #1 through #13 and put them in a new folder which Iwill be used later for another project. I also deleted the sfk0 & sfk1 files #1 – #13.

Later on I went to open the project I saved earlier and it’s telling me that clips #1 through #13 could not be found.

I told Vegas to ignore all missing file and the project opened. I then looked for the #1 through #13 missing clips on the timeline. The timeline starts with #0014 and nothing lower.

I tried closeing out of Vegas a few time and reopening but no luck. I then saved the project with a new name no luck. I then saved the project again with a new name and put the veg into a different folder no luck. I then edited this project rendered the project and made my DVDs everything looks fine but I still could not open this project with out telling it to ignore all missing file #1 – #13.

Does anyone know what would cause this problem and how to fix it?

    Thanks, Jerry K

I think you have to go to the “project manager” and click on that icon that looks like a lightning bolt to remove those files from the list and then save. That will remove all unused media from the project.

Roger is correct the only caveat is to be sure that what you have on the timeline is all you want there and wont need any others. Or else when you click on the “removed unused media” it will remove all media not currently on the timeline and if you need it later you would have to locate it again.

You can always just tell Sony where the clips it is looking for and then once found save it again. remember if you move any media to a new location Vegas will not find it, so be careful it will save you a lot of headaches later on.
