[Penri Mainwaring] “There are some elements of the template that I don’t want to be altered, more specifically the SCALE of some layers, is there a way to disable the SCALE property but keep the POSITION.”
you could use an expression to “lock” any value. for scale you can use [100,100] and once you do, any changes to the scale won’t reflect to the layer as long as the expression is active.

October 14, 2016 at 11:22 am in reply to: What techniques/effects are used to make something like this…?hi. here in this adobe interview you can get a sense on how you morph one shape to another with shapes and careful planning. when I used the term cell animation I meant this is careful almost frame by frame planning of keyframes.

October 14, 2016 at 1:12 am in reply to: AE-Premiere dynamic link not working unless both versions are CC2015.3?[Dave LaRonde] “Just a reminder — don’t let the new install delete your existing suites of applications! You have to tell the installer, “No, I don’t want to uninstall the old ones.”
Adobe: always thinking in the users’ best interests…..
“this is not accurate. the whole reason they put this “remove old versions” in the first place was because of user feedback
https://blogs.adobe.com/adobecare/2015/06/15/creative-cloud-delivering-more-choice-for-installations/

so we only have ourselves to blame here.and another thing, as designers, editors and others that are supposed to be used to reading what’s right in front of them, you would think we could read the fine print that says it will remove the old versions. we dismiss it because we are used to clicking o.k on everything. our fault x2.

if anything, we need Adobe to help us not be so lazy and give us something like this

I had some time to test your footage. if this is the quality of your footage (4:2:0 is bad for keying unless shot in optimal circumstances ) and you can’t get any better (at least 4:2:2 or maybe less compressed if you compressed it further prior to uploading it), my suggestion would be to use rotobrush + refine edge tool for the hair/head, and keylight for the rest. the compression is too harsh it just eats up the fine hair detail.

with rotobrush and refine edge tool you can get good edges. it will require patience and perseverance in a proper rotobrush workflow but this is how I would do it unless you can compromise the hair with some softness or feather.

The user says it’s with a “deformer” and refer to a Cinema 4D tutorial website… while this could be done with carful cell animation type of manipulation of shape layers, this was probably done in a3D app.

I’m on my iphone so can’t watch the video but this sounds like you need to combine keyed mattes to get optimal results with edge detail. There are several ways to do it and I would recommend learning the workflow here: https://www.lynda.com/After-Effects-tutorials/After-Effects-Compositing-04-Color-Keying/114914-2.html you can get 7 days for free pn Lynda, I subscribed years ago.

I am guessing the phone is moving right? So you need to track it. Compositing a screen replacement is more suited to Ae than Pr, but if it does not too complicated in terms of compositing, you can also try mocha pro plugin that is supported for Pr https://www.imagineersystems.com/videos/basics-of-tracking-and-masks-with-mocha-plus-and-premiere-pro/

October 13, 2016 at 2:17 pm in reply to: I want to render a transparent video but .avi files are too big[Walter Soyka] “Animation can produce very small file sizes for content that has large areas of flat color — even smaller than PNG sometimes and a lot easier to encode/decode. PNG wins hands-down on size for photographic content, but is very slow to encode as you mention.”
Thanks Walter. can you give an example where Animation will produce smaller file size than PNG? I did a test right now for a 8sec comp containing only text and solid color.

Animation = 18 MB
PNG = 4 MBof course PNG took 4x time to render. it’s almost like the time it takes to render, it makes up in size.
