Thank you Jeff. now it’s clear to me.

[Jeff Pulera] “I believe it is for convenience for the user to find something similar to what they are working with as a source.
“but in fact other than the fancy name, it really is similar other presets, correct?
[Jeff Pulera] “ry this – right-click on one of your video clips in the Project Bin, and select New Sequence from Clip.”
thanks for the shortcut. I usually drag it to the new sequence icon.
[Jeff Pulera] “n fact, this is the safest way to start a project, let Premiere match your footage to a preset, then you know things will be correct.”
this is true if I was creating a sequence that matches my source. I often edit from different sources. now I have to edit a showreel from different rates and resolution and just wanted to create a standard HDTV 25 Composition. I got confused by the many presets… I know I can create my own but thought that there would be one already to be a general HD. now I know Premiere actually has a couple and all are really the same.

Thank you Jeff for your response
[Jeff Pulera] “If you open the 1080p25 presets for ARRI, AVCHD, or DSLR, you will find that frame size, frame rate, pixel aspect and fields will all be identical between them. And the choice of preset has nothing to do with which format you may eventually be exporting to.”
I see. so why do we have all those presets if some of them are actually the same in frame size and rate,PAR,and fields?

October 16, 2016 at 8:50 pm in reply to: How do I mask out a logo on a moving and sometimes obscured object??4 step process: Tracking, Creating a Clean Plate, Rotoscoping, Color Matching. welcome to the wonderful world of compositing.
Tracking
you should track the moving object either by perspective of transform (depends on the movement in the shot) and apply the track data to the clean patch you create later (step 2) this is also called “clean plate”. if it’s only rotation, position, scale in which the object moves, you can then attach a patch to that null with a track data so it moves like your object. if it’s perspective movement you apply the track data directly to the layer with corner pin effect when you paste the track date from mocha. check the adobe resource files for tracking workflows https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/tracking-stabilizing-motion-cs5.htmlCreating a Clean Plate
Option#1:
you can use Ae stamp tool for this:
1. click twice on the video to open the layer window and use the stamp brush. adjust size and feather and in the paint panel use constant frame and lock source time. this will create a still patch for the duration of the shot.
2. go back to the composition window and duplicate your footage. set the paint effect for the duplicate to “paint on transparent” and delete it from the original. now you have a layer with a patch on transparent background, while the other layer is the original footage.option #2:
sometimes the paint process is too complex and you need more tools like Photoshop has. (content aware for example) so:
1. export a still frame from your video: Composition->save frame as-> file. this will create a PSD from your video.
2. open the file in photoshop and clean the area you want
3. import the file back to Ae.
4. mask just the part you wantnow you need to attach the patch layer to a null with the tracking data.
Rotoscoping
you create a duplicate of your video and rotoscope your obscuring object from the patch. you can try using rotobrush: https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/roto-brush-refine-matte.html or manually: https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/animating-shape-paths-masks.htmlColor matching
depending on the lighting changes you may have to adjust the exposure for your patch to match the background. you can do this with any of the Color Correction effects. you may need to add grain too. That’s it!

we need much more information here:
1. full Ae and Os version?
2. show us your setup with screenshots. type EE so we can see what goes on there. try to show a few that illustrate the actual problem
3. since it’s a playback problem, if you can show as a video captureRoei Tzoref

Yes you can. just use large scale values in the roughen edges filter and play with the parameters until you are satisfied you will do it even better than the video!

October 15, 2016 at 4:16 pm in reply to: Duik rig breaks when Global Controller is moved: even when precomped.you should make sure you only change your characters transformations using the puppet nulls and not the shape which is what probably is happening. you should not change any of the transformations of the shape layer when using puppet pin. it’s a render order thing. shape layers are collapsed by default and this means the render order is in reverse that usual. first the transformations, then the puppet. imagine you are scaling or moving a layer through a mesh of puppet – this is what happens. the way to solve it is not scale or move

what you should do is precomp the whole shape structure with the puppet animation (don’t use the collapse switch for the precomp) now you can move the whole thing if you want. or don’t convert to shapes and use the original Ai layers without turning the continuously rasterize switch.
this is from the help files: https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/animating-puppet-tools.html
Note: Don’t animate the position or scale of a continuously rasterized layer with layer transformations if you are also animating the layer with the Puppet tools. The render order for continuously rasterized layers—such as shape layers and text layers—is different from the render order for raster layers. You can precompose the shape layer and use the Puppet tools on the precomposition layer, or you can use the Puppet tools to transform the shapes within the layer. (See Render order and collapsing transformations and Continuously rasterize a layer containing vector graphics.)Roei Tzoref

path vertices don’t have spatial parameters. some scripts allow you to do that (such as BAO Mask Avenger). if it’s only 2 ends you can use the beam effect.

duplicate your keyed figure. fill the color with white and enlarge it. apply roughen edges effect. this setup will do nicely
