interesting challenge. why wouldn’t you just re-paint the stroke all over again? you can’t directly edit the path of your brush paint stroke like you do a mask or shape path. but since it’s a path, you can copy it to a mask path and edit it as mask path and extract bezier handles to vertices, and when you are done – copy paste back to the brush path

you can even link the two via expression and keep Ae mask or shape editing capabilities with the brush paint workflow for whatever reason. maybe you are better off using the stroke effect if you want to manually edit the brush paths and dismiss paint brush for this one.

Try Handbrake https://handbrake.fr/ which is a free x.264 encoder. tweak it and see if you get better results than AME and let us know. bare in mind that using highly contrasting colors and sharp angles is a tough test for a lossy compression.

if you create your preset through the export settings, it will remember your source scaling every time. you can set it to scale to fill.

there is something weird with your preset if any of these options changes anything with your composition when you export the exact resolution of your preset. make sure match source is checked. I would follow Michael’s advice and use one of the H.264 presets that already exist in AME and carefully change just what you need.

I am not following. if you created a 1920×1080 Animation movie and imported to AME, and you choose a preset for 1920×1080 – how does it shrink it exactly? if the resolution is the same you won’t see any difference in AME’s source scaling. please share a few full screenshots. you can copy paste to the text field here or drag and drop.

open the PDF in Photoshop, and export a PNG with Alpha. or use a layered psd and import to Ae.

this looks like something you can pull off with the echo effect. it just duplicate the video on top of itself with various blending modes. you could do this manually too.. this is a long music video, please specify the exact timecode with the transition you want to emulate.

Try jump parenting: parent layer 1 to layer 2 while holding shift and layer 1 will jump
To layer 2 position.

except for exponential scale Dave suggested, setting the layer to 3D and animating the Z position could give you a more realistic zooming in then a scale.

Dave’s suggestion is correct. you need to set the preserve frame rate when nested. you set it inside the 8fps comp by going to composition settings-advanced
