nothing has change in that regard in CC2018. if the child skews upon parenting this probably means you got non-uniform scale in the parent, and applied rotation to the child….

actually never noticed this be examining the behavior I see that footage panel’s CTI was always (a few versions back that is) synchronized to the composition panel unless you toggle off synchronized related items in the preferences.
I think it would be a good feature request to ask for another preference specifically to unlink footage panel and timeline panel.

I see your layer contains much more than the frame so that is probably the cause of this push and pull fight you are having. can you send me the shot so I could try and see if I could find an easier way?

re:flex morph plugin allows you to do that. you can set a key for a layer to be “on” or “off” – it will morph where you set it to “off” and replace the current frame with a sophisticated morph that you can refine and control. here’s an example at 01:55
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZ6ZzTgWnvAI used it to fix a bad movement of placing the credit card perfectly over and through the slit. as you can see the actor did not succeed of doing it right so I used re:flex morph to skip between one pose to another and helped it using masks that can help the layer warp also. I also re:flex warp for beauty work.

if you just want to replace the screen, all the headphone part should be out of the equation. you should track just the frame without the screen itself so you won’t catch reflections. one way to do this is tracking 2 layers. like this:
the above layer will always be the track matte so you are really tracking this:
now you won’t have so much drift that is caused by all the headphones part.

Yellow is a bad candidate for keylight. If you can’t get a decent matte (check
Screen matte view and status view), I would recommend using Primatte which is a 3rd party keyer by redgiant. It uses a different technology than keylight and it is especially useful with different colors than the normal chroma backgrounds that keylight excels is (red, green and blue).Roei Tzoref
