So having read this informative thread am I right in thinking that if I edit footage that has been brought in from DigiBeta (PAL) and I want to record back to DigiBeta (PAL) to deliver to broadcaster it makes no discernable difference whether I edit it in Prores or Prores HQ? Or am I misunderstanding?

    Thanks Jeremy
I will definitely consider conversions of mixed media in the future. Excuse ignorance but where do I choose 8 vs 10 bit rendering?

    Thanks for that Walter
Would in your opinion having 3 1TB SATA drives inside my MacPro and then RAIDED together (is this a verb?) perform less well than an external 3 drive RAID? Heat issues a factor?
Am I right in thinking I can do this without buying a RID card for the MAc?

Thanks to you both Alan & Chris
I’m definitely up for trying this! Sounds perfect (not to mention cross-platform) for my and my client’s purposes. Will let you know.
    Thanks again

  • Thanks to you both. I’ll go off and dip my toe in the Compressor water now, as it were.

    Thanks for this Andy
I am trying to get my head around nesting and it makes perfect sense if I am finishing the job in FCP. However for this I am doing the offline only and will export EDL for pics to be conformed and on-lined in Inferno. So if I nest shots do I not compromise the EDLs for V1 & V2 or is there a way to get the EDL info back for exporting for the conform?

The problem cleared up immediately for me when I downloaded and installed the latest Kona driver (5.1) from the AJA website. Hope this helps for you.
    Good luck
