Since when does Motion not have particles of all things? In fact, by the looks of it, I’d even say it was actually made with Motion. And even the 3D part could easily be done with e.g. mObjects. But I suspect that was just a generic animation that they picked up somewhere and wasn’t actually made specifically for the project anyway.

The preset length applies to THE DEFAULT SELECTION length. The browser will always show a 10 sec. duration no matter what you’ve set it to (max 10 sec btw). Actually clicking on its filmstrip will result in the preset selection duration. But whatever the subsequent length in the timeline, you can simply select any and all, hit CTRL-D and enter any value needed.
And you can easily check the resolution by selecting it in the event and looking in the info panel of the inspector.

I know!! It’s totally bizarre! You can substitute the camera brand and model for ANYTHING and you’ll get the exact same pages, just with a different camera description. Someone has come up with some sort of very clever way of redirecting ANY such searches to their utterly BOGUS app page…

No, but it also doesn’t effect EVERY one of those, drop zone or not. I unfortunately haven’t yet figured out a pattern. There are plenty default templates that have drop zones that don’t have the problem. Whether it might be DOF or motion blur effects or the likes, I’m not sure. But those are two things that FCP doesn’t have itself. It’s some little discrepancy somewhere that sets them apart from the rest…

It records in simple H.264, so why is it a problem. What are you trying to import from, the camera directly or from the card? You’ll want to import from the card. You should even be able to simply copy the card to disk and import from there if all else failed. Either way “doesn’t work” isn’t much of an error description to work with.

Yes, that’s what the initial updating does. Which is why he suggests doing it differently. But even if you don’t, no one’s keeping you from breaking them apart afterwards. And coming from 10.0.9 or earlier, the sight of everything open at once and all in the same place shouldn’t actually surprise you much. 😀
