Thanks for the info.I should have really got a blue one side/green the other in the first place, but back then it was mostly all blue screen.Green seems to be the favourite now.

    Thanks

Thanks for your reply. This new one is Lastolite skylite frame 6.6 X 6.6,Good design with metal frame with elastic rope inside so just clips together in a minute, then fabric is Velcro -ed on,so no wrinkles.Plus as its 6.6 in height also,if the interviewee is sitting, and not a basketball player,no need to raise the frame off the ground either,so just need one stand.Bit small but fine for the usual loose head and shoulders shot, ideal for quick set up on the road shooting.

    Thanks

  • Hi there

I have the same screen but only in Blue,I recently had to buy another, this time a 6×6 collapsable frame one, blue on one side green on the other.Worked fine for just head and shoulder interviews.
But the reason was I was told by the client that the screen had to be green,I guess becaues that is what they are used to,also I had heard from other people that green was better as more of the interviewee,s had had their media traning and were wearing blue shirts etc.

Any comments? any other reasons that green would be better than blue?

    Thanks

Thanks for your answer.I guess the logic was anything being shot with the F900 would have a colourist on the pay roll.Or a fiendish plot by the engineers to keep the camera people from screwing around with their circuitry !

Sorry misread your message re rifa lamps.!

Yes your 110v lamps will be a bit warm, but not by much, but I guess 100v would be better. The plugs in Japan have no earth pin,so you will need an adaptor from US to Japanese…

And yes western Japan is 60htz and Eastern 50htz,so you will have flicker from florries/TV screens, if you are shooting NTSC in Tokyo.

    Hi there

Just got back to Tokyo from US shoot, all went well with the F900,funny even without the shutter at 24fps there didnt seem to be alot of flicker off florrie lights(I put in 1/60 ofcourse just in case, and shot 1/48th the rest of the time)

Yes iam a DP based in Tokyo,re your questions.I would steer clear of Asia hire to be honest, they arnt based in Tokyo at all but in Bangkok, the address is an answering service and a few people have run into problems eg no camera at all.

    Daily hire of a f900 is about $us 1,000 a day,but you,ll run into problems without a local contact.

You,ll be fine with the 100v lamps for your rifa,Japan is 100volts so a 100v lamp wont burn warm.

Thanks again to Paul for the info re shutter speeds

January 21, 2006 at 3:05 am in reply to: XDCAM HD Impact

    Hi there

Ive used the HD XDCAM in Japan, the (higher grade model) is a very nice camera. You can use 2/3 inch lenses with an adaptor, shoot variable speed, and see it in playback without need of a frame rate convertor.Or need to que up after playback.

The 1/2inch Canon lenses made for these camera,s are a complete non starter!

But the sony guy said this camera is not aimed as a competitor to their HDCAM line,or so Varicam, anytime soon, and the chip is ofcourse 1/2 inch.

Although the body shape is a bit ugly (same as the new DSR 450) this a very nice camera for the price, but not aimed (as yet) as being in competition with their own HDCAM or Varicam.

Havnt started yet,I,ll fly to the US this sunday for 12 days.

So the F900 has only shutter settings as fraction of seconds eg 1/60th not degree,s like the varicam? not that it matters as long as it does the job

    thanks

    Thanks
