I wasnt the one to invent the side on.. originally Z1 and now 5/7D side shot.. but it was started many many years ago ..
15 years ago or more ! it was seen as original.. edgy.. quirky ..rock and roll.. and to ever did it first, fair dues.. it was new.. and for many interviews worked ok.. but really its been done to death..

You can change your camera settings to anything you want.. in the picture profiles.. but its for the whole camera look, not just the monitor LCD.. but that monitor should give you a fair idea of what you see is what you get.. thats what Im saying.. why do you just want to change just the monitor.. the camera image will be different..
But changing the camera settings is dangerous without at least once when your doing it.. connecting up at the very least to a pro level monitor.. nearly all have built in wave form monitors etc.. you can rent a monitor for $50 a day..or pay someone a few hundred to help you.. then you will have your look and can save it to a memory card..
I dont think anyone is being condescending towards you Brian.. cheer up its xmas.. 🙂

Yes understood that.. just referring to my own small brain power.. 🙂
Thanks

Dont know what it means 🙂 but thanks anyway.. if its not something in Content browser I probably wouldnt bother to do it.. just pull the tab before inserting into EXP slot
But thanks for your time anyway..

Your chasing your own tail here. There is no camera where you can adjust the gamma on the LCD screen only.. for the good reason that its meant to be giving you a fair representation of the gamma you have set for your camera, not the screen.. defeats the whole object.. no one works like this in the TV world.. thats it.

XDCAM log and transfer is being discontinued .. I would use Content Browser.. free from Sony site..
you can copy your files, with a CRC checker(set in preferences under edit)
view footage in the preview window
export to FCP.. codec stays the same just re wrapped as .mov file
Ive read best to start up Content browser actually from FCP,for import function..
Besides the SXS drivers.. Content Browser is all you need..

I would recommend using XDCAM Browser.. now Content Browser.. free software for the copying.. you can set in preferences a copy check function.. I found the advantage over shotput was you can view the footage in the same software.. just bring up the preview window and drag any clip over.. really simple .. all in one free software designed for XDCAM.. a disadvantage is, unlike shotput you cant copy to multiple ext HDD,s at the same time.. but for my work I usually keep the backup files myself and can do that later ..and so give the client their drive ASAP..
I would avoid USB2 anything.. too slow .. not the end of the world if your shooting a commercial. But if its a doc with tons of footage USB3 /Thunderbolt is way faster..
From what Ive read a very common error stills seems to be people just keeping the clips and not the whole folder.. then your up shit creek in a barbered wire boat..

If its a “front on” shot it would be pretty hard to do with lighting only.. its a big soft light that will light the face for sure..
I would shoot the face just off totally side on.. just be able to see both lenses of the spec,s.. your light will be way off to give the refection angle needed .. and not light the face which is towards camera..
To reveal,, nicest would be just dolly round the front of the face and it will reveal naturally.. or have the subject turn toward s the camera and then fade up a light to camera right..
