So you would advise the Gamma as first line of attack,before the master ped? I used the master ped,didnt have wave form,but very good monitor,by eye.Was this treading on thin ice????

Have you ever changed the master ped setting to make the dark area,s of the frame darker?I couldnt find a seperate Black level like Sony have.?

So should 23.98p with pulldown always be NDF,I think it is by default in the Varicam,what about F900 which will shoot true 23.98p(or must 23.98 always have pull down?)

Ah ok,thanks for the info.So anyway its not the standard way to shoot everything NDF.Maybe just the preference of this editor.

Great post.I have to say the varicam was a bit of a mystery for me,and it took a while to get most of what you have posted here in one go.As even the guys in the rental place didnt seem to know either !

Yes its a US model,so no problem.Iam used to (PAL) shoots,this DF/NDF was a mystery for ages.I learnt the DF for broadcast rule,but now some editors tell me,shoot in NDF always,as they can add the drop frame themselves,and sometimes cant edit on a drop frame?

Thanks for your reply.Had a look at the camera this morning,but this model,unlike the HDX900 didnt have a half shutter setting I couldnt find it anyway!

I can change the syncro one ofcourse.So should I set to 1/50 as with 25p,or is 1/60 better for 30p.Or 1/100 on the normal shutter setting.

I,ll have it set to Film 1 gama.

It could be that the DP is simply after a low brow look?
