It depends what you shot. Your capture settings should match what you shot. So if you shot HDV 1080i60, then that’s what your capture settings should be

What are the benefits of rs422? I’ve seen this interface on RAIDs and decks before, but the gear is too expensive for me, so I’ve never encountered it. A google search has revealed to me that it’s a way for the computer to communicate with another piece of equipment. Is that pretty much all it is – a way for devices to communicate quickly, and over long distances if needed?

hmm…I wonder if it’s your sequence settings. Your computer is probably trying to reconstruct the Long GOP compression structure of the HDV footage. What is the compressor set to in your timeline settings? Maybe try setting it to DVCProHD or ProRes

Yea I agree with Shane. Understand how to tell a story, understand how to effect the viewer psychologically, understand pacing and rhythm, understand the technology, understand the tools of the trade, and finally do yourself and your colleagues a favor…get organized.

Anyone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I was always under the impression that the difference between 24p and 24pA was the cameras method of adding pull-down so that the 24fps will fill the 29.97fps of tape.

Removing advanced pulldown from the 24pA footage can be done in Final Cut, but I believe standard pull-down must be removed in Cinema Tools when working with 24p

Well, if you are going to create a DVD I think the best workflow is to export a FCP Quicktime reference movie. Import that file into Compressor and apply MPEG2 and AC3 audio settings to it. Then once Compressor spits out those files, bring them into DVD Studio Pro

    I think you’re recording a fake 24p.

    or

You need to do a standard pull-down removal in Cinema Tools

September 5, 2009 at 7:30 pm in reply to: removing pulldown in 1080p24 DVCProHD

I tried the Compressor route again, but this time I didn’t down-convert to DVCPro50. I just did the reverse telecine and exported DVCPro HD, and I got no artifacting this time.

So I will do that to the rest and do a batch down-conversion to DVCPro 50 afterward.

    Thanks for reading.
