Peter do you have any plans to add an easy tick box for 1/4 & 1/16 proxy source “camera” resolution and 1/4 & 1/16 of 2K/UHD/4K sequence resolution DNxHR export to mirror Media Composer 8.3.1 timeline proxy mode in the format tab?
You have add an easy “Render at source resolution” tick box (see image), why not add the proxy options for offline needs? Maybe in Resolve 12, did anyone look for this at NAB? I forgot 🙁
Thank you for all your teams great work.

What type of DCP are you planning on making? Are you making an Interop DCP or a SMPTE DCP?
Interop DCP are 1.89:1 in either 2K 2048×1080 or 4K 4096×2160, the official name by the DCI is Full Container. In this case you would mask your image in Resolve before OpenDCP.
SMPTE DCP can be more aspect ratios. But the details of an SMPTE DCP 2.39:1 in either 2K Scope 2048×858 or 4K Scope 4096×1716, the official name by the DCI is Scope. In this case you would crop and enlarge your image in Resolve before OpenDCP.
I would use the easyDCP demo version installed in Resolve (all DCPs are watermarked) to demo this. You’ll find the aspect ratio for the Resolve project and easyDCP export will list the preset with “DCI” or “DCI Scope” etc.
I hope this helps?

Hello Andrew,
Try DNxHD 185X so your transcode is 10bit like the AVC-Intra AMA footage…
I’m going by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVC-Intra as I’ve not used P2 AVC-Intra files before.
Also look at “Media Creation” “Render” “Effects Processing” is not set to 8-bit?
I hope this helps?

Why do you think it was a mistake to purchase Resolve full at version 8? Your dongle still work with Resolve 11 full.
You should consider purchasing Alexis new training video on editing in Resolve 11 to learn more. You’ll find more information here:
I personally would recommend you learn a bit about each NLE and then focus on learning that NLE to a deeper level after the taste test.
For me Media Composer and Resolve work well, I’ve started to make baby steps with Smoke 2015.

Have a look at Michael Phillips post on the Avid forum about reel name & tape name for making MXF from Resolve to Media Composer.
https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/45/897854
Hope this adds more info.

Try using Avid AAF Round-trip preset as you export your offline out of Resolve. I export directly to Avid MediaFiles>MXF>number and use the AAF in each export collection to add the clips to our Bins. You can drag drop each AAF as you did the .mdb
My memory on how the reel name should look is a little off, but it can be the full source clip name or the card reel?
I hope this helps.

June 7, 2014 at 11:25 pm in reply to: Switching from PPro to Avid – some basic doubts. If you use the mouse to drag the blue bar across the timeline, you can modify how it will snap to segments.
Command+Drag = Snap to first frame of segment
Command+Option+Drag = Snap to last frame of segment
I have grown to love this keyboard modified mouse snapping.
I hope it helps?

From memory, Media Composer 6.0.4, Media Composer 6.5.4.1, Media Composer 7.0.4 play nice with Bins and therefore should play nice with AAF to some level (as stated avoid FrameFlex – or test how Media Composer 6.0.4 opens it?). Avid does have knowledge page with these details.

March 23, 2014 at 6:19 am in reply to: Avid Media Composer 7.0.3 on Mavericks – installation fails in the very end.I have seen an error like this but only on machines with a limited OSX created by our University IT department. Every other installation has been fine.
In the end for us it’s a issue with the installation not having the correct read/write permissions.
We used terminal to correct this. Some installations needed the new ilok drivers installed to fix Media Composer startup freeze.
I don’t know if any of this is useful?
I have not had these issues on new out of the box or clean install OSX 10.8 or 10.9

Hello Timothy,
What version of Media Composer are you using?
What OS are you on?
What codec is this footage, what installed AMA plugin(s) have you installed and what AMA plugins are installed on the system?
To look up your AMA plugin information:
MC7 go to your Project Window and click the “Info” tab look for AMA Plugin info.
MC6.5 and below go Tools>Console, type “AMA_ListPlugins”
Check that you are up-to-date with your AMA plugins by looking at https://www.avid.com/ama
Also please look at ALL the folder and file names between HDD root and media, any odd characters “/\+%” etc?
If your not sure about your HDD, always back it up, see if the new or temp HDD works? Try transcoding to DNxHD, see if all files work (No more green screens – that sounds like a decode issue maybe wrong AMA plugin?)
Good luck.
Cheers,
Robert
