February 13, 2014 at 5:46 am in reply to: Resolve crashQuits. Corrupted Project file…??Hello Francois,
As Margus stated, go Mac: /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/CaptureLogs.app
Run the CaptureLogs app and a file will be save to your desktop with a name like “DaVinci-Resolve-logs-“DATE”-“number code”.tgz.
Give them a little write up, your OS, hardware specs, media file specs, PLUS your exported Resolve project, XML/EDL/AAF etc.
The location on the PC is Windows: C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\CaptureLogs.bat
Resolve stability is only as good as the feedback we give!
I hope this helps?
Cheers,

Yes 2.5K or above footage transcoded to anything below UHD (4K) works in Resolve 10 Lite.
Basic steps are:
Project settings – such as frame rate, raw debayer settings, LUTs etc.
Load media into the media pool.
Create a timeline with either all media from the media pool, or user added.
Delivery page, export file type, resolution, location etc. you can also override resizing and debayer settings here (great safety net).
Go!
But the truth is without reading the manual and watch tutorials this is little help. Please read some of the manual, it’s very good! It’ll open up the program to you!

December 9, 2013 at 12:09 am in reply to: Little exercise : Best timeline setup for RED epic in a specific projectHello Thibault,
I would build your project as the image ratio with the custom project size; like for 2.39:1 in 1080 is 1920×804.
Do you mean that the anamorphic lens is 2:1 stretch and the ratio of the footage is 2.39:1 (it would have been shot with default 2.39:1 frame guides or custom frame guides, ask what they did)?
Then export as desired and Resolve will matte the empty space for you.
I hope this is helpful?

Hello Nina,
If you have a dongle you want the full version.
Go to blackmagic design website, click Support from the website banner, select your OS, Product Series and Product. Press Search.
In this case you’d select: Windows – DaVinci Resolve – DaVinci Resolve
You may find the DaVinci Basics & Configuration a better place for basic setup questions.
All the best

Are you sure about your Red project frame rate? You can have a project frame of 23.976 (or 25, 48 etc) and capture 32 frames per second to be playback at 23.976 (or 25, 48 etc) for that little bit slowmo look.
32 fps is not a format that our Epics can record (willing to be wrong) as a project frame rate, check your metadata?
I hope this helps?

Try a new project and load the bin with the sequence you need. Try media tools again as before. Could it be a damaged MXF database?

Buy Media Composer 7 as the license works for MC6.0.4 or MC6.5.3.
So your covered anyway you look at it.
See this link for all the license information.

Hello Adam,
Warning: I think that MPEG Streamclip will rip out the timecode from the mov. Maybe not a issue?
FCP hates HDV and plays badly, the recommended workflow was to capture as ProRes for FCP7 from my little testing.
As a test, try Resolve to read the Quicktime HDV file(that MC does not like) and export as a DHxHD MXF (plus render to Avid MediaFiles>MXF>”number” folder and then export a AAF to open the a bin with that media). Resolve should keep the timecode from the file and its free.
I hope this helps?
Cheers,
Robert
