Help really appreciated here… Deadline is looming.

After doing a day’s worth of grading on a TV episode, I’m now stuck with Resolve quitting without warning when I try to select between timelines. AND when I try to import new media.

Started with FCP7 XML linking to a single flattened file. Duplicated the timeline. Then tried importing an updated version of the file as additional clip. Everything went south from there. Now, trying to import any media / selecting either one of the timelines causes Resolve to crashQuit so fast my head spins…

I’ve exported the project and imported it on Resolve Lite on another machine. THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENS…

Other projects are fine. I can freely work with timelines and import media.

How do I salvage this? Any advice?

    Check for corrupted stills.

Try to export from projects list but without eels or stills and then re import.

    Some times it helps.

    Thanks. No luck.

I was able to at least export an XML from the crippled project (since I applied some tweaks to the original XML). And generate stills for every shot. Created a new project and imported the XML. Then just applied the still’s grades to every shot in the new project’s timeline. Phew. Only lost about an hour trying to work around this.

I think the thing that broke it was trying to import a ProRes file that had AAC audio on it by some fluke… But can’t say for sure.

    Anyone else had this happen?

try what Margus has advised, export the whole project without stills (not the XML way).

    I did try it.
Sadly, no joy… I’ll keep the method in my back pocket for next time if I have a project go wonky on me again to try.

My issue was that I could not touch any timeline. The moment I try to select either one of the two it crashQuits. Next time I’ll definitely try to copy in style like only Trace allows you to…

But thanks anyhow, gents. Appreciate the help.

Maybe you have some broken footage ?

I would try to move some of it to the other directory part by part and see if it helps.

Also do send in your crash report to BM.

They are really clever figuring out which asset kills your project if it is assets fault.

    Thanks, M

Resolve just quit without MacOs even brining up the Crash Log window. Where do I find the log to send to BMD? Is there a log somewhere in the system I can go look for?

I have a sneaking suspicion trying to bring in ProRes footage that had AAC audio on it triggered the problem. But there was no way to bring it back after the trigger. Once I get these episodes out, I’ll try to replicate the problem.
