OK. This is interesting. But it totally sucks.

I just had the EXACT same thing happen as before.

    Recipe is:
    1. Single flattened ProRes 422 file. (Audio. Linear PCM)
    2. XML from FCP7 reference and snips the file for the Resolve Timeline.
    3. Load project preset. Got a warning stating that mixed framerate handling can’t be changed since there’s already footage on the timeline. (Don’t worry about it since there are no mixed frame rates in the piece anyhow…)
    4. Grade for about 1 hr.
    5. Jump back to the XML timeline and add a cut point.
    6. Attempt to drag a Cross-Dissolve over the cut-point. At this time, all the timeline tools are ghosted and the dissolve will not apply.
    7. Create a Duplicate timeline from the XML. This is editable and all the tools & transitions are alive.
    8. Try to select the original XML timeline again.
    crashQuit!

Anyone else out there try to replicate the same problem!?

    Have not seen this.

Did you grab the logs ?

Sent them in to BM support.

Also re installing may help if not in the media files.

Where do I get the crash logs from? No after-crash window popped up. Resolve just disappears

    Hello Francois,

    As Margus stated, go Mac: /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/CaptureLogs.app

Run the CaptureLogs app and a file will be save to your desktop with a name like “DaVinci-Resolve-logs-“DATE”-“number code”.tgz.

Give them a little write up, your OS, hardware specs, media file specs, PLUS your exported Resolve project, XML/EDL/AAF etc.

The location on the PC is Windows: C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\CaptureLogs.bat

Resolve stability is only as good as the feedback we give!

    I hope this helps?

    Cheers,
    Robert

    Thanks, R
    Yes, it does!

I agree. We can’t expect bug fixes if we don’t report them. Just didn’t know how to do it…
I’ve posted a link on the BMD forum that contains the project, crash report & writeup. Is that the place to do it? What’s the best way to get this to them?
