  • I don’t understand your reply, but one thing I do if MC (not AMC which is a network) does not see a Blackmagic capture device is to try Blackmagic Media Express. I have had to capture with Media Express and then link or import in MC.

You did not say if you have tried other version of Desktop Video. Trying other versions is a normal thing for many of us that have been dealing with BMD devices for years.

    Hope you get it working,

    Robert

  • I had a similar issue with Wirecast. It is so annoying that folks are not supporting the older versions. Especially when the Betas work.

    Hang in there,

  • Hey,

    You fix this?

One thing I remind folks about is the fact that the newest Desktop Video is not necessarily the best. One must sometimes experiment with different versions. I’ve had some issues with 12 but have not tried to capture anything.

    Good Luck,

    Robert

I would tray another drive. Maybe an external SSD for testing.

I have used a Datavideo TBC for this but I believe I used the Blackmagic Media Express as the capture tool with an internal BMD card.

I have advised folks for years to not use Media Composer for this type of capture. The Shuttle to Media Express might work.

Also, there is an issue with some Mac Pros on Mojave with stuttering audio, but your 2012 should be OK.

    Hope you solve it,

    Robert

The OP said, “After transcoding the AMA audio, and creating subclips, these couldn’t be perf-slipped.”

So I am referring to the transcoded clips. As you may have noticed, he has not answered my question about which codecs/containers he is using.

Thanks for replying, I appreciate you sharing your expertise and experience,

    Hey Job,

Isn’t it also true that some metadata will not translate to some codecs or did I dream that?

    Thanks,

    Robert

BTW, I agree that any importing that previously worked should still work and if it doesn’t that’s a bug.

You said, “After transcoding the AMA audio, and creating subclips, these couldn’t be perf-slipped.”, I’m thinking that is not by design. What was the original clip codec and wrapper and to which codec/wrapper did you transcode?

    Thanks,

    Robert

As of 2020.11 or 12 Media Composer does support HEVC.

    Take it EZ,
