Yep make the GUI B&W totally! Don’t look at the GUI…. nothing to see there…. you don’t like the GUI image better than the monitor… You don’t…..

  • The last time I had to do this I Teranex processed all the 720P footage to the delivery format which was 1080i 29.97 I have always found 720P footage difficult to deal with.

Yeah dump the 4000 as GPU and get a 580 at least, I think you could then use the 4000 as a GUI card. Correct me if I am wrong but I think there is enough power in the Mac-Pro for this, your machine will be allot more powerful with the newer GPU.

Also if you are rendering a Quciktime you can use FCP-7’s Cinema Tools to open the clip and “conform” the framerate to 24.00 this is an instant change as Cinema Tools just changes the info in the clip that tells it what framerate to play at.

  • Most likely because the camera hardware is doing the demosaic work and the signal is 8-bit. The limitation is probably more in the camera hardware, line skipped sampling noise and other camera issues plus the 8-bit signal than the post camera compression.

Looks like a really great little box, and as someone who has a basically useless HD-Link-Pro Display Port….

I think AJA would have a nice product to sell if they made a Mini SDI/HDMI LUT box….

Did you go to each clip and scale it with the pan/tilt/zoom to match your 4K timeline preset?

I just don’t get that Canon made a 8-bit camera at this price level, truly dumb.

December 18, 2012 at 10:35 pm in reply to: Connection for HP Dreamcolor monitor

I tried to use the Decklink-Pro Display Port without a LUT and either with connection to HDMI or as a SDI pass-through it changes the picture… so until they fix it I consider it a $700.00 paperweight.

I would recommend the AJA converter as it has modes to use deep color on the HP and is less expensive. Unfortunately the HD-Link Pro Display Port has a problem where it distorts 3D LUTs that are loaded into it making it practically unusable until BMD fixes the problem.
