Haven’t seen Hitfilm yet, I’ll have to check it out. Filmora 8 has a nifty multi screen effect, a drag and drop function, but it got left out of Filmora 9.
Thanks for the info, see you around. -
Thanks for the advice. Been doing a lot of googling and DaVinci never popped up. I was kicking around Vegas, Pinnacle and Filmora, but wasn’t comfortable with any of them, DaVinci feels great. And free! Thanks again, see you around.

[johatk] “2. Enter: var/spool/qmaster”
It’s actually ” /var/spool/qmaster ” and thank you very much, I had the same problem.

Thanks. I’m sorry that I didn’t respond sooner, I’ve had another project thrown at me and I don’t have time to play(insert frowny face). But as soon as I can, I’m going to try your sugestions. Thanks again.

The drop-down menu that appears when I export a Flash movie as an .avi file defaults to 8 bit color with the option of 16, 24 or 32 bit. But, apparently it’s not the color setting but rather the codec I was using that pi didn’t like. I changed to the Microsoft codec and pi accepted it in the 32 bit w/alpha setting. I am using Flash on the Windows XP system but I have the pi demo program set up on both the Windows and Mac systems to try and find out which will work best for me. Anyway, it’s probably the same thing with the Quicktime .movs, I’ll just have to find the right settings to save it as.

“Wonder if the QT7 included in the FCP Studio package is buggy or something.”
That’s probably the case, but what does that have to do with FCP? Oh well, it’s working now. What the hell.

Son of a bitch, I thought Windows was some crazy shit, but I’m never gonna figure out this Mac OS. I had the same problem with FCP 4.5 HD after upgrading to Tiger and QT 7. I’m running a dual 1.8 G5 with no additional cards, just for the record. Well, after searching all over for an answer, I found one on the Apple FCP forum. I downloaded and installed Quick Time 7 and viola, I have video!? Now, if someone can explain to me how Quick Time, which isn’t running, could prevent FCP from seeing my video deck (a Sony DSR-11, by the way), and yet allow Imovie to use the deck, and THEN by reinstalling THE SAME PROGRAM, everything suddenly starts to work, I probably wouldn’t be able to understand the answer anyway!!!!

OK, me too. For some reason, after upgrading to Tiger and quicktime 7, FCP HD no longer recognizes my Sony DSR-11 video deck. The computer sees it as per the System Profiler, And Imovie can use it, AND FCP can control the deck as far as play and rewind ect.. but no video? As I said, it was working fine before the upgrades. So far, all I could figure out to do was delete the preference files, and that didn’t fix it. Of course, I’ve tried all sorts of rebooting and switching cables but I can’t figure out why the deck works with Imovie and not FCP?
Any Ideas? -
Sorry that you haven’t gotten an answer to your problem. I’ve got the same one!!! I’m using a Sony DSR-11. What are you using?
