I’m creating some compilation DVD’s that are comprised of scenes from various movies that give examples of the same genres, effects, mood settings, ect., and I thought it would be fun if I could add myself into the movie by keying, or “cloning”, ala “Forest Gump”. Is there an easy way to do this using FCP or Motion 2? I don’t want to make a big project out of this, just put myself into the video as a background character, like Forest Gump at Wallace’s speech.

you can make it as easy or as difficult as you’d like really

shoot the footage of yourself against a blue or green screen or other neutral color that doesn’t clash with what you’re wearing, your skin tone etc

now slap that footage over the top of your movie scene and add the chroma key filter to it. sample the background color as the color to key out so that the background disappear leaving just your image superimposed over the top of the movie scene

use the motion tabs scale attribute control to shrink yourself down to size

then use a garbage matte or other mask so that you appear to be behind or amongst the other objects / people in the scene

thats it … except matching lighting / film stock / camera motion and motion of the objects / people in the scene … if you want to keep it simple, only use static scenes!

Thanks. I’m sorry that I didn’t respond sooner, I’ve had another project thrown at me and I don’t have time to play(insert frowny face). But as soon as I can, I’m going to try your sugestions. Thanks again.
