It ain’t necessarily so. 🙂
You can produce files with an alpha channel irrespective of the track hierarchy using QT Animation + as Ann pointed out or uncompressed AVI files 32 bits (on Windows). -
You can create and then save presets for the Cross Dissolve in addition to third party transitions.

And yet, the next generation of workstations will be even beefier: dual 18 core Xeon, 1 TB of DDR4 RAM, new Quadro cards, etc.
Enough to make one salivate at the prospect of using such a beast of a machine. -
Select it > Ctrl + R > type in 320000 for duration and voilà .

I am sorry if I appear a little dense but what is preventing you from doing just that?
Again, Shift-clicking on a number of tracks or clips within individual tracks allows you to move them all at once. At least, on my Windows 8.1 machine running PPro 7.2.2. -

No, it won’t. You can select non-contiguous tracks.

To select audio tracks independently all you have to do is shift + click on the tracks you want selected.
