Select audio tracks independetly
So how do I select audio tracks independetly in Premiere?
Here is an example:
I have a stereo track on A3 and A4, some audio I DON’T want to select on A5 and A6 and then another stereo track I WANT to select on A7 and A8.
So what do I have to do if I only want to select A3 and A4 + A7+A8?I can select my double arrows I get when I press A and then hold down shift to get a single arrow to select a single track but I don’t know what to do to combine/add up selections? I thought maybe holding CMD (Im on a Mac) or ALT would do the track to add up selections but nothing works. I only manage to either select A3 and A4 or A7 and A8 but not both together at the same time.

Hmm. You’re refering to the track select tool and as far as I know it only works on either all tracks or single tracks, but can’t be added up. I wish it could because I’ve run into the same need myself before. Perhaps it should be a feature request?
What I have noticed though is that if you group your clips together, you can hold shift+cmd click and it will select all tracks forward that are grouped together, so that may be the workaround…

Hi Michael,
I have seen this request before. Currently, the best way is to lock the tracks you do not want selected, then click with the Track Selection tool. It will select all unlocked tracks.If you want a modifier key to add tracks with the Track Select tool, then make a feature request: https://adobe.ly/feature_request

To select audio tracks independently all you have to do is shift + click on the tracks you want selected.

You should give it a try, Robert d’Alexis. While it seems logical that doesn’t work. You can’t select individual tracks, it will also select the tracks underneath.

Just to be clear what we’re talking about here, Michael– it seems like you want to select independent tracks together with other independent tracks, say for example A1 and A5 and A7, etc, and not others.
Or do you just want to select any one of those on its own, because in that case Robert is right: when you hold down shift you should be getting a single arrow that lets you select independent tracks. You just can’t add them up together with others. -

No, it won’t. You can select non-contiguous tracks.

That is exactly what I want to do. I want to select them all together (with the expection of a few tracks) so that I can move them all together at once. -
Well the thing is that I wanted to select ALL tracks on say A2. With shift click I only select one track in A2 but not all the audio I have on this track. With that double arrow tool I can select ALL my audio in A2 or any other track but then I can’t combine it/add it up with A5 or other tracks.
I suppose the solution for this problem would be to fully zoom out, hold shift and then just draw rectangles around the stuff I want to move? -

I am sorry if I appear a little dense but what is preventing you from doing just that?
Again, Shift-clicking on a number of tracks or clips within individual tracks allows you to move them all at once. At least, on my Windows 8.1 machine running PPro 7.2.2.
