oh, I didn’t miss any of it (old new dawg here). I have no problem using Proxy for news (I can tell you stories) but some station get uppity about it. If they want to broadcast 1920, giving them 1440 h-dv won’t cut it. And rendering out at the end is a time killer. ProRes, proxy, LT, whichever.
Whenever someone would use the term “broadcast quality” my response was “you mean blue, out of focus with color bars popping up?” Kind of a loose phrase.

Better quality, works better with the computer (lighter in that sense) and if you’re referring to the 1920, well yes, a considerably larger and more compliant frame size.

You have to put the link in the flash/swf file on their web page, not inside your video. JWplayer will let you do this fairly easily with their online wizard. Running it through Flash itself will give you a lot more options, but you’ll need to learn some Flash.

You can do either. You can elect to edit only one channel of audio to the timeline, you can pan tracks or mute them or delete them. Have you already dropped everything into the timeline?

The trick to reducing rendering is getting everything into the timeline in the same format.

It’s all a game of leap frog. Discreet was ahead for a long time, Adobe tried to come up but both lost out to Apple. Discreet killed itself, Apple’s way ahead and now Adobe makes a move. Now we have Smoke on Mac which is what all the Discreet users were promised and waiting for. As long as a product isn’t killed (Discreet *edit) then the maker usually tries to keep making it better. It’s a waiting game.
