    Scott,

Check in A/V devices in Audio Video Settings, make sure you haven’t got a different setup for output to tape or perhaps your video output is set to digital cinema display

    Hi Joe,

believe me I’ve been through those specs a good deal. Yes the imac does have GeForce – 8800GS, which I believe is the same as the MacPro GT in all but name.

I’m really not sure why producers think they can set up edit suites, they don’t just grab a handycam and thrust it into the cameraman’s arms and say “here you go” yet increasingly we have to put up with homespun edit rooms. However in this case as I mentioned with the software installed on a more pro machine with different storage the same problems occur – although not as frequently. Also you’ll note that the earlier software didn’t exhibit these problems so despite my unhappiness with having to work on a ‘home’ computer I find it difficult to lay the blame wholly at the imac’s door.

I have also received an email from AVID tech support saying that there have been ‘issues’ with memory usage and effects and that a patch is coming which they recommend I install.

I think your best bet would be to find somebody with an adrenaline or mojo/nitris DX. Those machines should still be able to play that codec and thus you could load your media up and export it.

    Good luck

    Thanks Michael,

so Nitris DX is essentially doing the same thing as Io HD for FCP except it connects vie PCIe. They’re still charging an awful lot then aren’t they!

Could you explain the difference between thin raster and full raster? Presumably without the hardware processing it’s the CPU which does this?

    Thanks,

    Rob

Hmm sounds good, especially the ‘select from here’. Shane as an FCP user I bet you like that one.

Will the bug fixes stop it from hanging when quitting on the Mac I wonder?

And would I be mad to upgrade from 3.0 mid project? (I guess I know what you’ll say to that one!)

I tried this and was able to send to my producer’s mac (sitting next to me) but couldn’t get it to connect to America. When we tried to initiate a video call it said that the other side didn’t respond (even though they accepted the cal). We could IM though.

Stranger still, my producer could video call the States.

SO I can video call my producer (and send QT via theater), he can video call States but I can’t.

    ME – 10.5.4 ichat 4.0.5
    Producer – 10.5.5 ichat 4.0.5
    States – 10.5.5 ichat 4.0.5

    HELP!!

If you are delivering this for broadcast transmission the audio level should be nowhere near 0dBFS anyway as there should be 10dB of headroom allowed.

There is not a single music track in 15 years of editing that I’ve not had to reduce in level for mastering to legal broadcast spec.
