I’m trying to print to tape a PAL sequence. I am using FCP 6.0.4, with a DSR-11. The video was shot and edited in NTSC. I used Compressor to convert to PAL. I re-imported into FCP as a PAL clip and checked it’s properties to make sure it was PAL and it was. I placed the imported clips to a FCP sequence created with the DVPAL Easy Setup. Clip plays back just fine on the sequence and didn’t need to be rendered, so the sequence and clip matched just fine.

I have powered down the DSR-11, switched to PAL, powered back up, tried to print to tape, with no luck at all. I see nothing on the EE through to a monitor, which is multi-standard. I tried black and coding the tape in PAL, just to see if that was the issue. Only playback I get off the deck from that section which has been B/C’d is pink and green garbage. I have recently printed to tape in NTSC, so I’m not sure that the deck is malfunctioning, but I don’t rule that out. I’ve restarted FCP, I’ve restarted the Mac.

Does anyone have a clue what I possibly doing wrong or had similar problems?

    Scott,

Check in A/V devices in Audio Video Settings, make sure you haven’t got a different setup for output to tape or perhaps your video output is set to digital cinema display

In Device Control you have to set FW PAL.

Did all that… just restarted the Mac again without the deck turned on or connected, and it worked just fine. Thanks for your help!
