streaming video to exec across atlantic!
Hi all,
I’m working on a film in the UK but the exec is in the US. She’d like to do screenings remotely and apparently has done this in the past.
I’m told that ichat and skype accept firewire as a camera input so the question is can I use the firewire/DV output of the imac to send pictures to he firewire input of a macbook pro running ichat/skype?
In initial tests the MBP sees the imac as a mac over firewire but doesn’t see the video.
I’m wondering whether I’ll have to get a couple of FW-Analogue converters strung together to decode and recode the signal.
Or is there a way I can stream a quicktime directly through ichat/skype on the imac on which I’m editing?

in iChat, under the file menu, choose “Share a File with iChat Theater” (need Leopard)

I use MediaBatch for all our client reviews. I upload the clips to the client site, they can play the video and if we want, we can also have a Skype or iChat conversation going on at the same time. We rarely do this though, they just screen the footage themselves and then call with the notes.

I tried this and was able to send to my producer’s mac (sitting next to me) but couldn’t get it to connect to America. When we tried to initiate a video call it said that the other side didn’t respond (even though they accepted the cal). We could IM though.
Stranger still, my producer could video call the States.
SO I can video call my producer (and send QT via theater), he can video call States but I can’t.
ME – 10.5.4 ichat 4.0.5
Producer – 10.5.5 ichat 4.0.5
States – 10.5.5 ichat 4.0.5HELP!!
