So does it record onto discs – like a DVD? Is that how it works?

You could give this a try.

It’s easy, it’s cheap and it works fairly well. I’ve been using for a while and although it may be limited if you’re doing a ton of compression, it works great.

Thanks. I tried that and it won’t work. It’s weird since other tapes seem to work fine. I’m wondering if I striped a couple of tapes and then dubbed these over.

It’s very frustrating. After discovering how common a problem this is I can’t imagine ever using this format for a substantial project.

    Thanks,

Then is it best to edit in Native HDV or take it in through Apple Intermediate?

Hmmm- it looks like Apple Intermediate doesn’t support 24p. Does that mean my only alternative is to edit in Native HDV?

I’m on a G5 1.8 dual with FCP Studio 2. Am I going to be in a world of hurt?

Is it better to capture is native HDV or with Apple Intermediate Codec? I have to capture over Firewire.

It does take Phantom and I did have the power on. I had an Audio Technica mic with me last week that also runs on 48 (though I can’t remember the model) and that worked fine – so my power source doesn’t seem to be the issue.
