  • Hi Patrick: Thank you for the awesomely quick response. Issue solved when I started looking at other files. Somehow, the monitor setting got tweaked (embarrassing, I know). I think this happened, for some reason, on a re-start. ‘Looks back to normal now. But thanks again – I’m always amazed at folks’ generosity of knowledge. Take care! 😉

  • Thank you both for the good advice. I’m still working on that particular part (although I went on to other tasks, hoping I’d hear from ya’ll in the meantime). I will give both a try. ‘Again – ‘much appreciated. Truly, rb

  • Hi Chris:

Sorry for the late response. Now – I barely remember the issue… but I think it had to do with lack of hard drive space. As I recall now, I think I dumped a bunch of stuff and it started working again. BTW – I was simply compressing to a QTmovie, which I was later going to compress to an MP4. Thanks for checking in… gotta go take a ride in the Edsel now…. hardy har..!

I’m in a similar boat. ‘Have a MacBook Pro (2011), High Sierra. ‘Won’t do FCP 6.06 (which I use on my iMac) and won’t use DaVinci Resolve (I sent DaVinci a system profile and they said “no go”). So now I’ve got my nice little (old) MacBook Pro with no editing capabilities. 🙁 .

‘2 editing projects in the pipeline… so maybe I’ll do something after those are finished. Anyhoo – my FCP 6.06 still works like a champ, as does it’s host iMac. Anyhow , thanks for the thread good folks!

I downloaded Shutter Encoder, and it works great. I am shocked and excited!

Meanwhile, I’m still waiting for a follow-up response from PavTube HD convertor. They took my money for the 2nd download, which doesn’t work. I’m guessing they simply don’t have support anymore, but are still happy to take purchases for the old product.

Regardless, I really appreciate the insight!

    Thanks again!

    ‘Much appreciated.

    Cool.

Thank you Shane for the good insight (and some reminders, ie 8bit vs 10 bit). I did not know Resolve is free. I will check that out. I appreciate..!!

    Thanks again !!

One more thing I forgot to mention. I also exported the power point as a movie. Then I tried laying in portions of the movie: same results. I did close the other sequences, but I didn’t close the one I was working on, and re-open it. Regardless, thanks for the insights.

PS: I had already turned off Unlimited Real Time. Anyhoo – I suffered through the rendering and almost finished…

    Thanks David:

I figured it was some sort of hokus-pokus such as this. Is there a way to “re-set” the real time engine? I’ve gone through the menus and messed with some RT dials – not really knowing what I’m doing. I deleted render files on already rendered segments. Would it help to start a whole new project with the new segment?

    Thanks a bunch!

Oops: Crap. Thanks Paul! I’m in such a hurry these days. I’ll try and find the right spot.

    Peace,
