im not sure about blackmagic and arri, but for red files you can use redcineX (from the red website) to trim and export r3d files, or export a xml file from premiere to open it in redcine and then export it as r3d’s.

for arri and blackmagic, maybe with davinci resolve.(wich is free)

or you can simply send the original non-trimmed raw files?

im running a similar system, and i upgraded it about 1,5 years ago with a GTX680 https://barefeats.com/gpu680v.html

works pretty good so far, although i guess there are better cards available for mac nowadays.

ps, ALWAYS check if its mac-compatible! i made that mistake, was lucky i was still able to return the card even though i already tested it. 🙂

what if you format them on your macbook with disk utility (maybe in different ways, journaled, fat32) and then try to connect them to your imac?

yeah i know about the blackmagic stuff. i use it in my office with a flanders monitor and it works great. but i cant believe there isnt another way. every other piece of software like premiere and final cut can do it. i guess you’re right about the os affecting the colors, but it would still be a feature i really want. hopefully they’ll fix it in version 12.

okay fair enough, so how would you approach this? i cant just create the curves and do a mask animation, because the lines wouldnt ”squeeze” that nice over time plus it would take alot more time to animate/ do variations. and particles are also not really the way to go imo.

im now just doing it with the mesh warp , trying not to go too far

    it worked! thanks !

edit: well kind of, turned out it has something to do with the blackmagic playback, when i checked it on again (after the reset turned it off by default) it went tripping again. well im a step further

hmm ok. guess ill just wait for more updates to fix it..

also, when i apply a temporal noise reduction filter it really works like a charm, but i just found out that when i try render it, it always crashes at the shots with the NR applied.. (message: out of GPU memory) really annoying. my GPU is a 680 GTX 2GB.
