I just tried grabbing the entire sequence and moving it to the second layer, (not even copying) and the second I drop it on V2 I get the weird dissolve problem. When I bring it back down to V1 after that, the problem stays.

They are the same.
I import the same EDL for Left and then Right. Yet the second time I bring that same EDL in it creates this problem.
EDL issues aside, I’m unable to even copy the sequence and paste it and have it mirror my sequence.
Now I’m trying to copy and paste the sequence, once I past the sequence I’ve copied, it has differences.
I attached an image, the sequence above is the one I’ve copied from below and placed it on the top layer.

I think we just need to look at offline editors to figure out how to handle the future game.
There are hundreds of thousands of capable editors now. What separates them from the rock star editors? Purely marketing and experience? Everyone has the same tools as they do now.. why do some still book jobs at $2,000~/day?
75-100 sounds appropriate to me..

The only real evidence I have is them admitting via emails that they owe me and that payment is coming.
Is an email a court worthy document?
Is there some app where I can set it to auto call them and read a message everyday until payment is made?

Yes, I hear all this.
I normally do not hand anything over until I get payment.
I let this go because the people seemed rushed, and had an entire show coming my way, what can I say.. the one time I let myself trust someone this happens…very ironic.
I guess I’ll be talking to a lawyer to get a letter written!

Full fps playback isn’t always all that important. If it stutters a little bit on playback most clients will not care. Especially if they are saving thousands upon thousands by hiring a single mac to do the job.

Seriously.. I wonder how many people would sign a pre-order (market test) of offering Resolve + Panel for around 10k, and then eliminating an unlimited free version.
At the moment, to be honest, If I was going to throw down around 40k, I might as well shell out a bit more for a system that is a bit more elitist so I dont have to explain the value of the Resolve when clients start asking questions.
But yes, all of that aside, its leveled the playing field and will create a ton more colorists, so there will be as many colorists as editors or aspiring directors or actors, which will be really cool.

True..I sort of wish BMD would release a DaVinci Elite(ist) version that cost $10k. That way you could sort of separate yourself from the pack in some way as a Resolve user..then again you could separate yourself with a Resolve Panel. Or get Baselight or Nucoda? (then again you’d be spending 100k+)
Bottom line is, now your environment starts to play a huge roll, as it has in the offline world.
And yes, almost every assistant editor now claims to be a colorist…but hey… uh.. cream rises to the top.. AMiRIGHT?!?!?!?!

Rasmus, I’m guessing your not solely a colorist, which is why I understand your opinion, for someone who wants to just quickly pop a look onto footage, MBLs great. But I cant imagine a top client coming into session where the tool in use for grading is MBL. For a colorist, who grades, doesn’t do FX, offline editing, online editing, etc etc.. Resolves sometimes roundabout GUI is worth what the tools offer. But with the XML workflow, its hard to complain.. (ok, I woud love it if speed changes translated)
Keep in mind Resolve is used on many of todays blockbuster movies. (probably at least 50% of them..? considering CO3s use as well as several other major facilities + all of the international freelance rockstars..)
