    Bizarre problem in Stereo project.

I import an EDL for my Left Eye. Everything is fine. I load the same EDL for Right, there is a change in the dissolves. Some are longer and are covering certain shots. When I try to adjust or delete these erroneous dissolves Resolve crashes without report.

I’ve even tried duplicating (copy/paste) the Left Eye and then placing that directly over the Right Eye on another track and I get the same problem. Any idea what would cause this?

Your left and right eye EDL should be exactly the same to start with. Resolve should typically not allow you to associate them together if the edit is not exactly the same.

    They are the same.

I import the same EDL for Left and then Right. Yet the second time I bring that same EDL in it creates this problem.

EDL issues aside, I’m unable to even copy the sequence and paste it and have it mirror my sequence.

Now I’m trying to copy and paste the sequence, once I past the sequence I’ve copied, it has differences.

I attached an image, the sequence above is the one I’ve copied from below and placed it on the top layer.

I just tried grabbing the entire sequence and moving it to the second layer, (not even copying) and the second I drop it on V2 I get the weird dissolve problem. When I bring it back down to V1 after that, the problem stays.

Not sure why you have left and right eye in the same session on two tracks, that won’t work.

you should have all your media for left in one folder under root in the media pool and right in another,

then import EDL and point to left eye media, then import the EDL and point to the right eye media,

you should have two sessions, left and right.
right click each sessions time line and choose left or right eye.

If this doesn’t work, then there must be differences between left and right source media and their time codes and reel numbers..

    Yeah,
That has worked on a ton of sessions so far, for some reason this particular EDL was causing problems.

I wasn’t even trying to go L and R yet, just copying the sequence on the same session, in fact, even if I moved the sequence at all, like selected the entire sequence, and moved it, it would alter the entire sequences dissolves.

It turns out that the editor was dissolving out and cutting to a slug, then dissolving into the next shot. Wherever he did this it caused this problem.

When he changed it so that then dissolve connected into the slug, everything was fine.
