    Thank you all,

don’t know I was getting fits. I just trashed settings restarted, rendered and poof! We’re fine. I probably would have just done this anyway but I had a client calling every 5 minutes and I got worried initially that rebooting would add to the problem. Thank you all for your help again!

December 22, 2006 at 8:00 pm in reply to: dv or dv50

    Thanks for the response,

So let me ask (and yes, humor me like a kindegardner)-

If you shoot on mini dv, it’s recorded as DV25. Correct?

If you shoot on DVCAM it can be recorded as DV25 only or can a setting in the camera allow to shoot at DV50?

Can you play a MiniDV tape shot in DV25 thru a DVCPro50 deck and capture DV50?

sorry of rthe silly questions. Thanks for your help!

November 4, 2006 at 8:14 pm in reply to: quick interpretation question involving AE renders

Let’s assume all three since I often output for all three,

Lets say I’m making a Betacam SP master out of the AJA IO, I also want a a good high-res DVD using DVDSP.

and for goods measure, let’s say my neighboring production studio routes my AJA output directly into a broadcast switcher to be played on a projection screen in an auditorium.

Best choice for each scenario. thanks!

    you’re a lifesaver,

looks like that was it. no rhyme or reason, but a tweak of the audio 5 clips down did the job. I’ll work through the other bugs. thanks again.

September 6, 2006 at 1:35 pm in reply to: render settings for FCP

    It does,

not too familiar with black magic. I wish some graphics expert (like yourself) knew of a cool chart with all the codecs and a breakdown on quality stadards, average file size, render speed, known quirks, format recommnedations and all.
I’ll test a couple different formats. It was a bit easier with avid codecs and the known ‘lower field” render of after effects was pretty well known back when, but now I have to re-learn. I might also be working with clients who just expect the resolution to be just like a professional DVD (like a movie rental). Anywhom, any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks again!

    Hi Steve,

most of the time it is outputted from aja io to betacam SP, or encoded for DVD. Does that help clarify what I need to do?
