I know MacCaption makes a module that will ONLY stripe a .stl file into any Quicktime….it’s a snap.

It’s not the full MacCaption product, but just the Quicktime module. Is best on the Mac.

  • USB Jump drive. I always have 2 and 4 gig USB sticks around. Or the old DVD data disc….but be sure to pack in a non bendable envelope because the post office will snap it in half for sure!

Try adding extra key frames. Natural plus forced key frames every 10 frames. Might not add much to the file size.

I’ve had to crank up the bit rate and although I did, the file size only got nominally bigger.

Otherwise it is in go daddy’s side.

  • Somewhere in all the poetic speak about the future of creative there is a business model. The marketing language is what we hear, but underlying it has to be a broader plan….one that steers users to adopt Adobe’s model, rather than just shopping for the right software tool and purchasing it to use as long as you like.

We use Production Premium but Illustrator gets used very little in our work. Actually AE is the workhorse here, and Photoshop.

How about a cloud version of AE and Photoshop with an Illustrator “lite” for, say $9.00/month? I might bite.

But as you can see there is no one size fits all and Adobe is betting that there is.

To add to Greg’s comments, not to forget that AVID is a fully mature and complete (and robust) editing platform with some also great features shown at NAB. Price is not as low as FCP X but it is truly affordable. And if Premier/Adobe goes to an all subscription model it could bode well for AVID.

Watch any ESPN sports talk show and they cut from one guy to the next as a rule!

One thing to soften the blow from this kind of edit is to split edit the thing. If the first guy holds a look for a beat, stay on him just until you start to hear the next guy then cut. If you are editing in 1080 try using scaling and position to move the guy into a spot that makes the cut more seamless. Many times a cut doesn’t work because of eye line etc, and moving a clip around a bit can clean it up without actually trimming the cut point.

I would say I almost always use a split edit when cutting between two interviews and I normally use scaling and positioning to make it really work.

Adobe actually called me while I was reading this! I pointed out the issues discussed here. I’m on the fence. Especially at a time when there is no clear winner in editing software…we are sitting on four FCP 7 seats. I have four Adobe Production Premium CS6 seats as well but have not turned on Premier yet with so many legacy projects.

The dust has not fully settled and Adobe is listening.

I don’t even own an AVID (well, 6.5 on a PC that gets little use) and I think she is spectacular. And she rides a Harley…bonus!
