Hmmm….not true Brett. I always found that FCP would offset the clip vertically 1 pixel so the fields would line up.

Cmon guys. Get Disk Warrior. It is the best mac drive utiity I have ever used. You get an app that can repair drives and a bood disc that can reapir the boot drive. It does WAY more than the simple Disk Utility that Apple provides. I have fixed many a disc that Disk Utility couldn’t even recognize.

Please seriously consider Disk Warrior!

Crank up your CBR to 6.2 and see if that does it. Also, be sure to create an AC3 of your audio tracks.

Which version of compressor? What I would do is export a short section (maybe 2 minutes) thru the choppy section with the motion. Try several variable bitrates to see which one will hold up and will also alow you to fit the entire piece on the DVD.

We have found that with BitVice we can get a much better encode and the file sizes have been reduced significantly. Encoding time is not even that bad on shorter segments. There was no comparison between bitVice and Compressor in fade up from black…bit vice looked more like the original….compressor looked like a bunch of blocks.

Other than adding new features, can anyone from Aja confirm if there were significant changes that had to be made to the core of the driver? Or was it more like adding features to compliment the new software?

I’m kind of curious because I have two Pipe Studo machines and since Aurora is no longer in business (thanks Apple) new drivers are unlikely. So I wonder how much of a rewrite the drivers are. We are trying to convince a few of the old Aurora programmers to get us the new drivers!

I think you are always better off doing an Advanced Burn and build the disc to your hard drive then burn with toast….you don’t have to burn an IMG file, but the actual VideoTS and AudioTS files in Toast. Using this workflow you will be able to easily make more copies if you need them.

One thing to try, if you insist on burning out of DVDSP is to try trashing the compressor prefs and maybe the Finder Prefs.

You can use MPEGStreamclip to mux them together after compressor is done.

I have used MPEG Streamclip to make AVI movies with PhotoJpeg codec embedded. I kind of agree with Danny that archiving your DV clips is the easiest way to do this….they’ll be good for a long time.

You don’t gain much by transcoding really.

Are you running 6.5? If so have you updated to the 6.5.1 update? Fixed lots of goodies.

Short of that I’d ri the clip out of QT player to animation codec with aiff audio and then compress that.

How about if you import the movie into cleaner, double click it and look at the stats below?

But looks like QT is reporting the correct datrate?
