I don’t know of any HDV deck that has HD SDI in. Only HDMI out and we use the convergent to convert that to HD SDI.

But I need to output HDV to the deck from FCP.

I don’t have the firewire option on the DVCProHD deck. Panasonic assured me that they don’t have a firewire option board laying around.

Hi guys….We discovered the same issue today. Ours has more than sync drift, we are also seeing a sort of judder on playback. We tested the crap out of it with all kinds of source tapes, setting the deck differently internally, easy setups, sequence settings, control panel etc. Here’s our findings. DVCProHD worked perfectly. ProRes422 HQ worked just fine. ProRes422 DID NOT KEEP SYNC.

This was ALL 1080i 24p footage.

DVCProHD runs at 14mbps, ProRes HQ runs at about 28 mbps and ProRes runs at about 18 mbps.

Hey Dan, although it might look very good, don’t you lose all the original clip information once it’s in the sequence? No tape info, timecode etc? Isn’t that all stripped out? This sure won’t work good on long-form projects where you might need to go back for some clips.

I understand, however, that you were trying to find a solution without having to get Nattress standards Converter. Still, FCP has to deal with this in the future as we will face this more and more.

I’m with Arnie…I put all the hours at our current rate. The last line is the discount and why we are giving the discount. It is quantity 1 and is just a total amount, depending on what we agreed upon.

One clarification about liability insurance is that it is not all about the camera you own. It does cover the gear, but liability insurance can also cover losses incurred if YOU trip over a cord and it tips a light stand that crashes into an MRI machine and the place starts on fire.

Don’t only consider your gear when it comes to production insurance…consider anything that might possibly go wrong that might, in the end, be your fault.

The DiablePolling txt file seems to have done something. We also found bad timecode on another tape so we had multiple problems happening at once which makes the troubleshooting that much harder.

Tried everything else, but cycling the deck seems to have solved it for now. Strange how cycling the deck does anything…BUT, it seemed to have worked.

I think you are seeing the actual dimensions of the clip (720 x 576) in the get info box, and in QT you are seeing the DISPLAY dimensions, 1024 x 576. Sounds like anamorphic footage. It is squeezed horizontally for capture, but would be displayed at the wider frame size for the correct aspect.
