Error on Digitize
Hi all….having trouble digitizing SD material from DVCAM from either a Sony DSR 1500 or a Panasonic 1200A. MacPro QuadCore, Leopard, FCP 6.0.3, QT 7.4.5…10 gigs RAM and an internal 3-drive SATA RAID. Trying to upload DVCPro50.
After about 2 minutes uploading, I get the following error:

I have turned off ALL of the error preferences in User Settings. Anyone else have this issue? We were getting the same problem with DVCProHD material too. Tried both a Sony Machine Control and the Panasonic 59.94…checked that everyone is getting a good Ref signal from the Black Burst…
Thoughts?

I have seen this error on a few occasions. It scared me at first.
My only option was to ignore it and eject the tape. In my cases nothing happened to the tape.I don’t know what this error means, cause it basically “went away” after power cycling the deck a few times, and maybe a repair permissions, and reboot.
Have you carefully checked the actual tape within the cassette? Make sure its not wrinkled or snapped.
That is the only logical thing I can guess that error message is referring to.Anyone?
Again, in my 3 – 4 times I’ve seen this message, I eventually was able to digitize the tape on the same deck/computer.
Maybe magic gnomes?

Tried everything else, but cycling the deck seems to have solved it for now. Strange how cycling the deck does anything…BUT, it seemed to have worked.

Also when using the Sony DSR-1500, I’ve found that setting the input to the internal signal generator (color bars) rather than to external video while capturing that this error will likely go away.
There is also a patch available that is supposed to address this problem.
Google “DisableAltETTPolling.tx[1].zip” for the patch.
I used to have the same problem and the combination of these two things seems to have solved it. I haven’t had it happen in quite a while now.

The DiablePolling txt file seems to have done something. We also found bad timecode on another tape so we had multiple problems happening at once which makes the troubleshooting that much harder.
