Since I posted here last evening I have had the opportunity to revert to an earlier Vegas Pro 19 build. I found that not only Build 550 presents me with the HandlePIChanges requestor box anomaly, but Build 532 does so as well. Thankfully, when I reverted back to Build 458 everything now appears to work just fine (and I tested it for about a half hour, as well). While I have absolutely NO IDEA what programming jargon HandlePIChanges does or means, apparently my fix works. I probably will not update to any more VP 19 builds, since I do not know what in their programming code caused this problem for me. Evidently, it is a rare occurence, as I only found one other VP user who encountered it back in 2017 in an earlier version of VP. So the bottom line is if anyone else encounters this just try to revert back to Build 458.

February 21, 2022 at 3:54 pm in reply to: Vegas 18 plugins folder – Where is it?

I’m using VP 19 Pro, but I believe that all of the drivers and plugin locations did not change for this version. For Mercalli, check your \Program Files\Prodad\Mercalli-? folder. For New Blue, I have DLL files in my \Program Files\NewBlue\(NewBlue Package) folders. NewBlue Package= Video Essentials, Flash Remover Pro, Audio Scrubbers, etc. For Titler Pro, check your \Documents\NewBlue\Titler Pro\Library for folders containing any saved .nbtitle files and templates. At least these are the folders where my files reside. I don’t think I would move or copy .dll titles around. If the program does not work, just reinstall it.

Was this, by chance, a commercial Blu-ray? If so, my educated guess is that the blips are due to the copyright protection on the disk.

  • I FORGOT ONE VERY IMPORTANT ITEM:

I will be burning DVD+R DL discs (Dual-Layered–8.5GB capacity).

    Sorry for the important omission!

November 1, 2021 at 2:36 pm in reply to: A red X shows up in preview screen when using Boris FX

When I upgraded from Vegas Pro 18 to V19, I also installed the free Boris FX package. Now working in Vegas Pro 19, I noticed that a number of Boris FX plug-ins were missing. Long story short–the new Boris Continuum (free) 2021 FX package overwrote the installed Continuum 2020 package. I reverted to the 2020 package and now all is well. So perhaps Resolve points to a registered Boris FX package and VP 19 points to an unregistered Boris FX package, and thus the red Xs?

October 22, 2021 at 5:09 pm in reply to: Vegas Pro 19 Bothersome Review

Based upon a number of credible recommendations, I made the plunge. For the most part I am satisfied. Would you be able to elaborate on the “serious issues and defects with the software” that you note, other than the cancellation privileges please?

I only have two “minor” issues thus far:

    1) When selecting a clip, V18 and lower immediately highlight the clip; in V19, it takes one to three seconds for clip to highlight so that I can process it. I don’t know why this is happening, since I have upgraded my PC to a screamer! Anyone else experience this who may have a solution?

    2) The Boris Continuum plug-ins: Only one instance of BCC can reside and be active on any computer. When I installed the 2021 plug-ins that came with the V19 upgrade, it eradicated my 2020 installation, which had many MORE plug-ins (as it was a special paid-for package that I purchased about a year ago). I learned the hard way on this one and had to reinstall my 2020 package. All is well now–caveat emptor.

It took me a bit of time to get use to the “new” interface (some of the icons and colors are different, but V19 DOES load much faster). I will know about rendering speeds after I finish my current project in a few days, though.

Thanks for jumping in so quickly, Steve, as you so often do. May I ask that you elaborate slightly about why V19 Pro is superior to V18 Pro? I just want to have an idea what improvements and additions have been made. Have you personally used it for awhile and does it work great for you?

  • A number of years ago I purchased a bunch of extensions from VASST–work great! One such extension is EventTools, which offers a “Match Selected Events to Project Aspect”. What this does for 4X3 to 16X9 image conversion is to eliminate the letterboxing by zooming in to the frame and holding this framing consistently throughout the chosen video clip(s). Then you can use pan/crop if someone’s head is chopped off on individual clips! I use it all of the time and love it! Looks like the extensions still may be available:

FYI, this was a company that I believe John Rofrano was associated with and the extensions are solid!

July 3, 2021 at 7:46 pm in reply to: Wireless PA Suggestions

Sorry, the formatting probably was caused by cutting and pasting what I had posted on Facebook.

The room size and venue may vary, but my experience was at a caterer and the charis were set up in an area about the size of a large dance floor. I estimate around 75-100 chairs were set up.

We were able to hear voices, but the PA volume not only was VERY low but a lot of the words were garbled. One of my colleagues did suggest a Peavey Escort 6000 Plug-and-Play setup (amp & speakers), but he did not follow through with my questions about the wireless mics/receivers. I looked the latter up and from what I saw/read the Peavy web site did not go in to detail about what the wireless mic/receiver kits included.

Peavey was just one suggestion, but the prices were right (about a grand for the PA/speakers and a bit under $400 for what looks like a dual-input diversity receiver with one wireless handheld/1 lav/body pack.

So given this info, do you have any suggestions other than Peavey?

  • This latest modification completely resolves my initial inquiry–works great!

    YOU’RE A GENIUS, ED!

You always have solved everything that I have thrown at you, dating back to the early days of Excalibur! Again, I cannot thank you enough!!
